Did I just continue the melee curse from Path of Exile 2 into Diablo 4 or something? I’m at my parent’s house and just played my dad’s Dreadclaws Warlock through a Pit on Torment 9, plays WAY smoother than my Zeal Paladin. Monsters are still choppy, but my character feels 100x better. Maybe I need to just play ranged for D4 to feel better?

I've just spent almost a week in San Francisco attending my first GDC ever. I had some really good experiences here: I met David Brevik, who's been one of my childhood heroes, I met Chris Wilson and Jonathan Rogers who are both wickedly smart folks that were really fun to hang out with, I met and hired one of the former Last Epoch Designers... I had lots of really positive experiences like that and I got to spend some quality time with two of the folks from my own team. And yet, every single time I have to come over to the US, one of the experiences that always shakes me the most is how severe the homelessness issue is in those places and how it seemingly never gets any better. In fact, the opposite might be the case. The divide between people who've got it all vs. people who literally got nothing seems perversely comical. It's seemingly become a problem that people have just come to accept as the norm, but... how is that possible? The measure of any community is in how we treat those who need our help the most. And it's hard to deny that by that measure, those cities have failed their own people by a gigantic margin. Instead of looking away, we should look right at the problem and try to figure out a way to solve it.

It's very concerning how many people don’t realize when they’ve slipped into what I’d call a 'grievance community'. You might even be part of one. Online Discussion boards or places that on the outset frame themselves as a great place to offer news, for people to post critique or just to openly discuss hobbies. On the inside though, the pattern is always the same: They're driven by constant outrage, endless focus on putting things down, shared enemies and painfully little self-reflection. These communities don't exist to build something better - they solely exist to feed off resentment. And it makes sense that these exist: People get validation, belonging, even moral certainty. Everyone agrees with you. Everyone laughs at the same targets. Everyone reassures each other that the problem is always 'them', never 'us'. It's incredibly similar to being part of a bully group in school: Not because everyone involved is evil, but because such a group dynamic rewards cruelty, posturing and conformity while discouraging growth or dissent. Be honest to yourself, ask yourself if you might just be part of one of those communities. Communities like that never make you smarter, calmer or more skilled - They just make people louder, angrier and more dependent on the next thing to be mad about. It's an ever-repeating cycle of 'What do we oppose today?' It's fun to tell yourself that you're an expert at something, but criticism that isn't paired with creation, curiosity or responsibility is essentially just a performance. It stops about being about improvement and starts being about status. If being part of a community mostly trains you to complain, dunk, and feel superior while producing nothing of value… it’s probably not helping you. Even if it tells you, very loudly, that it is.

My goodness gracious, everyone. Path of Exile 2 has me addicted right now, it's good but it's not good. I've had to check myself a few times this past week. TIME TO GO TO BED, EXILE! Anyone else feeling this way with 0.4, or is it just me? I think the biggest part is the simplicity of current endgame + the Druid + most of all, all my friends playing and chatting in Discord. This is something, including I, discounted for quite some time. If you have a group of lifelong friends and family playing something altogether or just chatting about it, my GOODNESS does it make the entire experience so much more enjoyable.

Just as an FYI, I don't mean to start drama, but lets face the facts. Blizzard moved it's release on a date, unfavorable for fans of the gerne. Released before PoE, pulled a huge cinematic, big class release, all the strings... The results were not impressive. If they would've stuck to the old date, I would've probably played the new season on release. This is a bit of a fuck around and find out scenario if you ask me.

@Paralegal97 @wickedgame Difficulty settings suck. People loves difficult games like Elden Ring. Seasonal content is great, though. These type of games need to give you reasons to start a level one character.

My bishopric read a letter in our sacrament meeting today. It was regarding the incident in Michigan. As part of the letter, they would ask certain individuals to sit in the foyer to be a voice of warning. Not to be heroes, or stop the intruder, but simply to be a lookout and voice of warning. I felt it was very appropriate.
