This is precisely why I don't recommend using @Ledger Are you happy with the possibility of your seed being shipped off-site? Just because the service is 'opt-in', doesn't change the fact that the necessary functions are on your hardware wallet. Not your keys, not your coins.
4lteredBeast.eth@4lteredBeast

Hold up, you're being misleading with this first point. > "Shards are stored with independent providers, encrypted, and require your identity verification (IDV), Ledger device, and consent for decryption." These following two points prove that non of those requirements are technical controls but rather policy-based, which frankly doesn't account for much in this space. > "A minimum of two of the three fragments would be required for any jurisdiction to gain access to your wallet, and a court order would need to be obtained in at least two jurisdictions." > "Two of them would need to be recombined and decrypted with separate keys. Any order of this nature would realistically only ever be obtained in the most serious cases of criminality (such as where terrorist financing is suspected)." The fact is that using Ledger Recover ships your seed off-site, and exposes it to attacks that aren't possible without using the service. The next question is, are there any current versions of firmware that don't have the code/functions necessary for Ledger Recover? Side note, are you really saying that if a user loses their Ledger, that they can't access their backups?!

@MartinShkreli @HugoMartingale I do see an opportunity for a lawsuit as Polymarket knows which users are in the US. It is possible that their settlement said that they have to geoblock US IPs but didn’t say they had to ban VPN users. At the end of the day, they are willing to take the risk.

@tenad0me @MartinShkreli Memecoins are certainly not securities. Additionally, the SEC certainly won’t prosecuted anyone who doesn’t hold any tokens. (He also didn’t lie 😂)

@MartinShkreli Have you ever promoted an unregistered security under fraudulent pretenses? Maybe like lying about how a coin you deployed is linked to Donald Trump?

@MartinShkreli I would also add that Polymarket most certainly knows about US based users (including specific ones) but are not taking steps because it adds liquidity and to the site and adds volume. Aka Polymarket would die without US users.

@MartinShkreli 1. Hey Martin, I’d presume that 40% of Polymarket’s users utilize VPNs. 2. Polymarket uses lose geoblocking which can easily be bypassed via a VPN. (This was put in place following a CFTC settlement) 3. They do not comply with AML or KYC procedures as it is decentralized.

Tonight was an indictment of the Democratic Party. How could they? Did they think they could pull one over on the American people? Catastrophic for the party and everyone in charge. How much money has the party and the campaign taken from the American people to put up Joe Biden as the candidate?

If there is a ceasefire in Gaza, it has to eventually lead to an end to the occupation. If the occupation continues, things will only fester. How much degradation can one people take?

I’ve been in Cairo for a couple of days, meeting with family members and others from Gaza who survived the war and managed to escape Rafah right before the Israeli military’s invasion and takeover of Gaza’s southernmost city’s border crossing with Egypt. The horrors that these poor souls have experienced are truly indescribable and something that’s been incredibly difficult to listen to. Whether it was horrendous IDF bombardment and the killing of civilians as they were fleeing per specific instructions, or, the unimaginable criminality/evil of Hamas and how they caused so much death and destruction through their tactics and practices, the people of Gaza are stuck between two forces that have no regard for their well-being – they are truly powerless to effectuate change or alter the course of events. Beaten, battered, weakened, tired, wounded, maimed, and extremely exhausted, they are desperate for the war to end. Two things that I’ve heard over and over are: (1) overwhelming anger and fury at Hamas for a multitude of reasons, saying that most civilians in the coastal enclave want the Islamist group to stop fighting and engage in a political process. People are outraged that Hamas would launch useless missiles, or “tubes,” that would bring Israeli ground troops back into areas that were already vacated and had hope of resuming some form of life. Some believe that Hamas is unable to defeat or harm the Israelis militarily, but the group is nevertheless stubbornly determined to bring maximum death and destruction upon the civilian population who are used as pawns. (2) is something I’ve heard before from Gazans, which is that they don’t know/understand the true extent of horrors that took place on October 7th and have not seen the footage or heard any stories of the murderous actions that were committed against Israeli civilians. According to many whom I’ve spoken to in the UAE and now in Egypt, Hamas’s dominant narrative is that any “digressions” and “transgressions” were committed by civilians, and not the group’s fighters, who were there on a “holy mission.” Unsurprisingly, Hamas is throwing its people under the bus and abdicating itself from any responsibility for the brutal and savage criminality on Oct 7 and blaming Gazan civilians for all the horrors on that day. While some civilians did participate in the attacks by going in after the wall was breached, the majority of violence against Israeli civilians was perpetrated by Hamas’s fighters who penetrated deep into the “Gaza Envelope” communities, unlike civilians who were primarily confined to the border areas. Nevertheless, the individuals I’ve spoken to say that what’s been/being done to them is the equivalent of ten October 7s and that while they want Hamas to stop fighting and give it up, they think that Israeli actions went far beyond weakening the group and have been unbelievably and unjustifiably brutal and violent. One lady gave me a souvenir that survived the bombardment, displacement, and exodus from Gaza: a rusty can of food aid (meat) she had to buy.

@TheFlagGuy_ @afalkhatib Totally agree. But above all it is the intent. Hamas WANTED to kill Israelis. The IDF isn’t targeting civilians. Intent matters.

@afalkhatib There was not even ONE 10/7 committed by Israel on Palestinians. Not even close... The Palestinians voted for Hamas and cheered 10/7. They are collectively guilty. Actions have consequences.

Or Moses z"l, 22, was a commander in the Extraction and Rescue Unit. On October 7, when she realized that terrorists had infiltrated her army base Zikim, Or and 13 other soldiers told 90 recruits (young soldiers) and staff to hide in the shelter and went out to fight the terrorists. Or was killed while trying to rescue an injured soldier. Or and her fellow soldiers saved all 90 recruits and staff. May her memory be a blessing.
