Going for the onside kick was him cementing that respect. Fail & you give Texas prime position to get themselves back into the ball game, as opposed to making us drive down the field. He knew that Texas wasn't dead yet and could rise off the mat, twist and pull the dagger.

If you remember, that 5th ranked Notre Dame team then beat higher ranked Georgia and Penn State and was in a one score game with Ohio State in the natty late in the 4th. Soo the committee was right in ranking them top 5 last year? Maybe they might possibly be correct in ranking them top 10 this year?
