I have a somewhat neutral stance on AI but it annoys me how so many people will do basically whatever they can to say 'AI bad' It almost feels like so many people hate AI without even knowing why, or just because they wish it didn't exist

This attitude isn’t the way to go. Downplaying the “quality” of AI output/where it will inevitably end up is silly and will only cause more harm. You’re living in denial if you can’t acknowledge where this is going. This isn’t tech that will only “make people clap like seals” it’s a real threat that needs to be acknowledged and dealt with accordingly. Regulation and rules need to be enforced. Not pretend that the problem doesn’t exist.
