Last week, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office filed additional charges against Tommi Jo Mejer, 50, of Aliso Viejo, including involuntary manslaughter, after her son crashed into and killed 81-year-old Vietnam veteran Ed Ashman. Mejer had been repeatedly warned by law enforcement about the dangers but ignored those warnings and is charged with providing false information to deputies investigating the crash. She faces a maximum sentence of seven years and eight months in state prison if convicted on all counts.
