Very proud of this latest work from the lab! As we suspected, the immune imprint from a lifetimes exposure to S. aureus might be the reason vaccine have continually failed to drive protective immunity.

Researchers uncover a novel pathway by which intracellular Staphylococcus aureus can suppress the antimicrobial capabilities of human neutrophils by using the anti-inflammatory adenosine receptor, adora2a (A2aR). Read the article in @mbiojournal: asm.social/1DK

I am so delighted to see my paper out in the world! We show that S. aureus drives glycolysis, limiting the pentose phosphate pathway to inhibit neutrophil function and facilitate its intracellular survival. Many thanks to my supervisor @McLoughlin_Lab & to my amazing Co authors!

Last pre print from the lab. Did you ever want to analyze immune cells in vivo and track simultaneously the bug? Did you wonder whether T6SS shapes the cellular landscape? Immune check points and infection,? Some answers here driven by @RicardoCaldGonz, infection biology wizard.
