@rtenews We've come very close, were it not for swift medical intervention and luck, to having multiple murders on the streets of Dublin recently. In this case the guy is so disfigured it's hard for them to ID him. But Dublin is safe etc

@Clearpreso @robggill These rains have highlighted which areas need better drainage and/or flood protection. One would like to think that the council will make the required improvements before this happens again next year. Alas, I don't think that will happen.

@robggill this in particular is a local engineering issue, what you are looking at there is very much above sea level. It's a drainage deficit which tbh has been cause by the original sin of the park, which used not to exist years ago, sloping BACK TOWARDS THE ROAD as opposed to the sea

If we don't want this to be future - we need to plan - climate change security is a national security threat. Again, we need an expanded Dept. of National Resilience to mitigate all risks to security of this state's citizens and economic interests.

@danobrien20 I've often wondered how 'market rates' can be determined in Ireland when there's so many subsidies with Housing Assistance Payment (HAP), Rental Tax Credit, and Rent a Room.

Ireland has the second smallest private rental market in western Europe - just 13% of the population live in homes rented from private landlords. It has one of the largest state-subsidised rental markets - 17% of the population live in non-market rate rentals. It is one of only three west EU countries to have a larger subsided rental sector than private one.

GAA finals tickets are Hermes bags: they are in limited supply, you need to know a guy to get a ticket, there's always more demand than supply, and that fact is broadcast for weeks in the run up across media. LGFA and Camogie are Michael Kors bags: they're nice and available.

The LGFA or Camogie games never sell out. 2019 final was the peak at 59,114, that leaves about 20,000 empty seats. There's nothing cool or sexy about attending an event that everyone can attend.

Great piece in the Sunday @Independent_ie by @acunnane10 on the progress of the LGFA since 2016. She references research that 25% of men surveyed have an increased interest in women's sport since last year, but I'm wondering about women's interest in women's sports?
