@thomaskffmn Are there certain shoulder conditions that respond better or worse to peptide injections?

26y/o bodybuilder 8 weeks shoulder pain when benching Tried traditional PT, chiro & pain meds Started injecting BPC157 directly to the shoulder 5 weeks ago. Shoulder pain has worsened. Why are athletes immediately running to peptides without a proper diagnosis??

@hjluks I’ve made the switch myself Had to get a separate polar so I didn’t have to use my training one first thing in the morning in my warm bed Also using same software. 👍👍

Your true easy pace will vary day to day. Depends on fatigue and other factors. When I started running again after injury in April 2024, my true easy pace was about 9:30–11:00/mi (5:55–6:50/km). Now it’s closer to 8:00–9:30/mi (5:00–5:55/km) I don’t really monitor that closely though. I let my legs dictate on the day and keep the run controlled. Just keep training well and your easy pace gets faster.

This climb is a bitch to me. I am a fat ass recreational cyclist looking for metabolic health. But today I did PR on this climb by 20” and I am quite happy!

@Alan_Couzens It’s ego. I suffered from this big time: “what if my mates see me shuffling round my neighbourhood like this?” Accounts like yours, @runliftrunlift and @singhcredible persuaded me otherwise. Thank goodness. 3.47 and then 3.36 for my first two marathons followed. It clearly works

Our biggest problem is pacing. We're just really bad at projecting the effort that we can sustain over very long timelines. Part of it is ego. Part of it is pressure. The solution - shut the voices out, slow the paces down. This applies to everything.

@Alan_Couzens Do I use the standard age-based max heart rate calculation, or something different? ‘Cause 70% of that would only be 111. :-)

*Under* 70% max heart rate. In my testing database, the mean heart rate at the first rise in lactate is 69.8% of max. We want to be *below* this point for the vast majority of the work.
ABD AL HANAAN@abdalhanaan123

@Alan_Couzens @Alan_Couzens what do you think is a better threshold to stay under 70 or 75% of hr max for easy intensity for the majority

@PratikxPatel I’ve been living under guidance of an old lecture that suggested 25-30 grams of meat could be digested at once—I figured that bars and powders would be much higher.

How to distribute protein intake throughout the day: 200# person, ~91kg, needs 200g protein per day (1g/#, 2.2g/kg) 3 feedings 200/3 = 67g protein per feeding 4 feedings 200/4 = 50g protein per feeding 5 feedings 200/5 = 40g protein per feeding

@AsafKlaf @GregLehman @LSaugman Non-specific LBP should rather be called “specific lower back nociception”—but we won’t be able to say which specific nociceptive fibers are involved, or which tissues they innervate… Right?

@GregLehman @LSaugman It can’t get any simpler than the following: Nociception = A process occurring ONLY in nociceptors and specialized neural tissue. It is NOT SOMEWHERE like you said. It is ONLY in this specialized tissue. No need to look anywhere else. I reckon this SUPER specific

When a patient comes to the doctor and uses the WORD- PAIN -indicating he/she has an unpleasant somatic manifestation(anywhere in the body), the pain is ALWAYS -SPECIFIC -to an activation of the nociceptive apparatus. Sometimes the activation is structurally related, and sometimes the activation itself is the problem. However, it is always SPECIFIC!

Should EASY training sessions be performed at 60% HRmax? 70%? 75%? I often get this question from clients and typically recommend to NOT EXCEED ~70%. Remember, while an elite athlete’s LT1 may correspond to ~80% HRmax, a beginner’s will be ~10% lower. 🚴🏼‍♂️🏃🏽‍➡️🏊🏼‍♀️

@dantaylor688 I’m biased, but I’d like to believe that chiropractors who specialize in Active Release Techniques are of a slightly different ilk than what you’re describing. I just saw that you’re in Ann Arbor—you’d be very happy with Karen Slota in Farmington Hills or Royal Oak.

@BrianAllenDC I'm starting to 😂 I knew the other guy and he just let me stop by once when I was complaining about a problem. I've gone to 1-2 since and they want to charge a ton of $ and do a bunch of stuff that doesn't actually help. Any tips for identifying a good one?

Friends, are there any chiros that aren’t crazy or just out to make a ton of money? Old chiro and was extremely reasonable (charged per issue, not per visit; fixed everything in 2-3 visits). He retired and I haven’t gone in several years. Tweaked back, looking for something.

Cool new pain (its always something :) When my knee is bent and I'm kneeling on the floor it feels like my skin is both burning/ripping on the lateral aspect of my knee. I'm assuming this is some cranky cutaneous nerves as I've had similar feelings above the ITB before.

Increasing step rate can have multiple benefits for runners. Despite this it's not a cure all! Those with a low starting step rate and gait findings that are likely to improve from an increase (such as over-striding or increased hip adduction) are more likely to benefit.
