@PARCroadsafety @MHealyRae This is already enshrined in the legislation. If serious injury RTC occurs a Garda “must” obtain a blood sample at hospital. If someone is killed blood toxicity is carried out as a matter of course during autopsy.

The Dublin Metropolitan Region Roads Policing Unit were in West Dublin today checking learner drivers. Seven vehicles were impounded for a variety of offences. One motorist stopped was driving unaccompanied having failed the driving test 5 times! #SaferRoads #ArriveAlive

DMR Roads Policing Division arrested 5 drivers for drug driving during 2 checkpoints in North Dublin last night, one of them driving a 37 tonne fully loaded truck. Blood samples taken and sent to the MBRS for evidential testing. Never ever drive while intoxicated.

So unfortunately we had to put Freddie to sleep this morning. He was sick for the last year but really went down hill in the last week, we decided not to make him suffer. He was great company around the house for my parents for the last 12 years and will be really missed

DMR Roads Policing Units conducting an MIT checkpoint on the Stillorgan bypass last night. Three motorists were arrested for DUI offences. In January 2023 Gardaí detected 660 drivers for Driving under the Influence Offences (415 Alcohol/ 245 Drugs) #StaySafe

Gardaí from Kevin Street, supported by Traffic Unit members from Dublin Castle, conducted a roads policing operation on Friday night. One drug driver was arrested, 16 vehicles seized and 37 fines issued for various offences. #SaferRoads

The Dublin Castle Commercial Vehicle Unit arrested the driver of this car following a road traffic collision. It was found that the driver was disqualified from driving and they were also driving while intoxicated. Court to follow. #NeverDrinkAndDrive

Gardaí from Dublin Castle Roads Policing Unit discovered this vehicle illegally parked in a disabled bay without the proper permit. The owner issued with a €150 FCPN. Please be considerate to those who need these parking space. #OperationEnable

DMR West & the Regional Roads Policing Unit conducted an operation in Damastown at an unauthorised car gathering. 3 drivers were arrested for drug driving, 1 driver was arrested for driving while disqualified & 8 cars were seized for various offences & 30+ fines were issued.

Dublin Castle Roads Policing unit were conducting a speed checkpoint on the N4 Lucan. This driver was detected travelling at 176km/h in a 80k/h zone during a status yellow ice warning. Driver failed roadside drug test for Cocaine and was arrested. Court to follow. #SaferRoads
