One thing is very clear- a country's access to cheap and reliable energy is absolutely key for future prosperity now more than ever. Ireland needs to ramp up battery storage both at a domestic scale and commercial scale, will help all levels of society but especially low income

I write here about the MASSIVE problem of intellectual cowardice among the mainstream media. Shame on the lot of you @irishexaminer @IrishTimes @guardian The *very few* notable exceptions prove that you could be honest if only you had the integrity

🚨 In today’s Irish Mail on Sunday, we tracked down the estranged daughter’s of #ICE detainee Seamus Culleton. They say he abandoned them as babies, never gave their mother a cent and should come home to face drugs charges.

To all the people (media in particular) who rushed to say the US is awful, this guy did no wrong. Will you do a retraction? (of course not). 'not even a parking ticket?'... Not even a penny for his own kids. You dickheads. Kudos @garmacnamee for being an actual journalist.

Giving weather warnings 5 times a week for 6 months is like the boy crying wolf on repeat. People will stop listening which makes it completely counter productive. @MetEireann warnings would not have prevented any of the problems in Dublin yesterday but are a handy scapegoat

Enniscorthy has been flooding for years. It is interesting that the government can invest billions of euro in IPAS centres and foreign ventures such as Ukraine, and can find no money to invest in flood defences for a large town like this. It beggars belief

This is one of the most beautiful moments you will ever witness. Sir Nicholas Winton helped 669 children — most of them Jewish — escape the Holocaust. His humanitarian accomplishments would remain unknown and unnoticed by the world for nearly 50 years. Then in 1988 he was invited to the BBC TV show That's Life!. There he sat — unknowingly — as part of the studio audience, surrounded by the children he had rescued. They were now adults. Then they surprised him with one of the greatest gifts of all time. Their presence. They were there, all alive — because of him. Not only was he reunited with dozens of children he had saved, but he was also introduced to many of their children and grandchildren. Please remember Sir Nicholas Winton, for his humanitarian operation known as the Czech Kindertransport. Sir Nicholas George Winton, a British stockbroker, and a gift to this planet, left us on July 1, 2015, at the age of 106. May his memory forever be a blessing and inspiration to all. Please share. International Holocaust Day cannot be forgotten. But many are working to make that happen.🕯️♥️

Maduro leaves behind a remarkable track record. He oversaw the most efficient destruction of a modern nation-state in history. Under his watch: • GDP shrank by 80%, a peacetime collapse 3x more severe than the US Great Depression. • Cumulative inflation hit 150 trillion percent. • 7.7 million people fled, a displacement of 26% of Venezuela's population. Beyond economic ruin, Maduro transformed Venezuela into a global logistics hub for cartels. He is accused of repurposing military airbases and radar systems to provide safe corridors for ~275 metric tons of cocaine annually. The UN also links him to over 19,000 extrajudicial killings used to suppress dissent. While the country starved and $300B was siphoned from the treasury, Maduro and his immediate family are believed to have secured a private fortune between $1B and $2.5B. Furthermore, independent audits show that in the 2024 election he fabricated or suppressed 4.7 million votes to flip a landslide 67% defeat into a fraudulent 51% victory. Maduro was an illegitimate president who oversaw a criminal enterprise and directed the economic implosion of one of the wealthiest countries on earth, pushing millions of Venezuelans abroad. The world should be celebrating his removal, rather than defending the "sovereignty" of a tyrant. To the people of Venezuela: congratulations. May this finally be the start of your recovery. I hope to visit Venezuela soon, it's been too long!

Amazing interview this morning from Shane Coleman, Newstalk, interviewed former Maduro chief of staff who described Maduro as a 'hero' and 'president of democratic country' , never once challenging anything. Can journalists not just be objective, not get involved in culture wars
