Good afternoon, The LMPD wishes to apologize for the tone of our tweets over the last 48 hours. Our social feeds do not accurately reflect the entire department or this community.

Any success I had as a cop was due to great training officers and mentors who took the time to teach me the right way. I had the privilege of running into my old coach, Sgt. Morrow, and it reminded me how much I owe to those who shaped me. I’ll never forget where I came from.

For those of you following the Spencer and Monique Tepe case here in my hometown, you likely just heard from our Mayor. So let me be very clear: the Mayor of the City of Columbus is one of the most dangerous leaders in our city’s history. He is soft on crime. He has allowed Columbus to become increasingly crime-friendly, and under his administration, police officers are being charged with murder for doing their jobs. I have and will continue to speak out about how this administration has gone out of its way to complicate—and outright endanger—the lives of our police officers. When I was overwhelmingly elected to serve 4700 members of @capcityfop I promised to protect good cops and remove the few bad ones from our 90 year old organization. I kept that promise and will continue to do so.

@822bfdkhkt @ICEgov Again I don’t know federal render aid policy. Prior to 2021, CPD only called medic. Now we are required to render aid. It is a good thing that came from reimagining public safety. Unfortunately unless he was a neurosurgeon with cranial wound specialty, it wouldn’t matter .

@BrianSteel_ @ICEgov Neat lesson (if that was actually what happened today). Now, is it protocol to prevent a doctor on the scene from rendering aid?

You can debate @ICEgov mission all you want. One thing is for sure, if you intentionally strike a law enforcement officer with a car you will be shot and Supreme Court case law backs it.

@822bfdkhkt @atrupar If it does go to court, it will be Federal Grand Jury. Either way I would expect a thorough review of agents actions.

@822bfdkhkt @atrupar I can only speak to my experience in Columbus. When ATF , Secret Service and FBI shot suspects they handled case internally within federal government. Unlike CPD they did not identify agent or provide details. Only CPD involvement was crowd control and scene security.

@822bfdkhkt @ICEgov Completely separate issue from officer’s reaction to discharge weapon. I don’t know their render aid policy. I do know medic was called although unfortunately wouldn’t have mattered

@822bfdkhkt @atrupar I agree. I didn’t say justified, I said expect to be shot . Investigation and federal grand jury will determine justification based on on case law.
