I am just going to be an evangelist for the conference call/camera-off Zoom for the rest of my working life, outside of getting-to-know-you, early in working relationship calls. Here's why:

🚨GREAT NEWS: our bill to let SNAP families buy hot rotisserie chicken just passed the House! After raising a pile of kids, I know what a life saver a hot chicken can be when you need to put food on the table at the end of a long day. It’s backwards to stop SNAP families from from buying this fast, easy, and affordable meal…time to fix it and give working families a break.

I'm the only Michigan Democrat who won a Trump district in 2024. I know how hard it is to win, and serving in the Minority, I know the consequences of losing. Both losing elections and losing sight of what matters and what unites us. What I saw on the MDP Convention floor is deeply troubling – for what it says about who we are, how we win, and whether we will be able to meet this urgent moment. Some thoughts & our path forward 🧵

That's why every quality pollster who has polled this race this year (me who works for Haley Stevens, Mallory McMorrow’s pollster GSG, unaligned Data for Progress and Upswing Research) shows a close race with most having Haley Stevens in the lead.

Emerson put out an outlier poll last time in Michigan, were made aware of their errors, and then doubled down on them with an even more skewed poll. Their poll is an outlier because it’s badly done.

Working Families Party PAC released an ad in IL02 attacking Donna Miller, saying she “folded” and “voted to hand over our personal, private information to ICE,” while contrasting Robert Peters as a progressive fighter. Is internal campaign polling showing Donna Miller up?

Best exchange in the debate with @SolomonforJC and a desperate/failing/red faced Jim McGreevey: James: “You probably wish we defunded the police because you’ve been under investigation from so many different law-enforcement agencies”

With this sort of massive swing from 2024 in VA and NJ, Sherrod Brown and Amy Acton in Ohio are licking their chops.

State of the race memo from @HaleyforMI camp: “While her opponents focus on punditry and going viral, Haley’s strength with Black Michiganders and union workers, her relentless focus on lowering costs and protecting Michigan manufacturing, and her record fighting for Michiganders – which has led to her winning tough primaries and general elections – will propel her to victory.”

We just launched new digital ads to make sure Americans know the real costs of Donald Trump’s billionaire tax giveaway, and call on the Republicans rubber stamping his agenda to stand up against him. Read more here >> washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/…

My greatest comfort on this: @pollsterguy, who is very smart and good at his job, sound eerily similar almost like we rehearsed it.

Two pollsters talk too close to call, changes in the coalition, what to interpret from the EV & prospects for the House & Senate: s2.washingtonpost.com/camp-rw/?track… Always nice to see @BrianStryker in the news since I so rarely see him in person, haha.

Ugh, 2024 might start this month. 😱 Donald Trump has accelerated his campaign planning, hoping a White House bid will blunt a series of damaging Jan. 6 revelations. Some Republicans are worried. nytimes.com/2022/07/01/us/…

What Trump represents right now is the culmination of the project of making the president above the law: The Case for Prosecuting Trump. player.fm/series/the-ezr… + It will be bad if Merrick Garland prosecutes Trump — & worse if he doesn’t. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/…
