Getting my son featured in the @nytimes is the peak of my parenting/journalism/comms career: nytimes.com/2022/11/22/din… and yes, I said it on-the-record: turkey sucks.

@TwitterSupport I’m getting spammed with calls from a number that says it’s Twitter asking if I’m trying to change my account phone number and to confirm by entering a texted authentication code. Is this an attack or real? How can I report/stop it and protect my account?

In late 2017, with #MeToo in full swing, I set out to see if my high school harbored any teachers who took advantage of the often blurred boundaries with students on campus. I never expected to find my journalism teacher. businessinsider.com/rosemead-high-…

Lost among the breathless speculation about what Microsoft's deal for Activision meant for the metaverse was a simpler truth: Microsoft thinks Activision's top-tier titles will help it pursue its gaming strategy. My analysis of yesterday's deal: nytimes.com/2022/01/19/bus…

@Lucas_Shaw @ArcheoAstro @CaseyNewton @hunterwalk Thanks for your reporting! If there’s any follow up with the chief content officers, I’m curious if new shows are performing strictly worse than past shows at the same age or just have higher expectations?

@ArcheoAstro @CaseyNewton @hunterwalk @Lucas_Shaw The better way to look at podcast breakout rates would be by raw subscribers/listeners. Is it harder to get to X (whatever defines success) than ever before? Or just harder to get into the ever-rising top tier (comparative status)?

@Brian_Solomon @CaseyNewton @hunterwalk @Lucas_Shaw Could be as simple as a maturing format and that we're creatures of habit. Could also be that the long tail is even longer now. The more interesting stats might be found in the top 100? Top 1000?

@CaseyNewton @hunterwalk @Lucas_Shaw The post touches on it but how unique is this phenomenon? Guessing it’s similar for YouTube channels, newsletters, etc. The more mature the format the more difficult it is for a new entrant to capture same the eyes/ears of an older entrant with years of cumulative gains.

@hunterwalk @Lucas_Shaw Great questions, I’m just also curious why that top 25 list isn’t more dynamic. Hard to imagine all the highest potential shows were created 7+ years ago

@Brian_Solomon Have u adjusted for base rate of missing on the pick? It is much less costly because of the cap delta. We’re not talking about an affordable vet or a 1 yr deal or something. Ridley et al is getting big money.

I don’t understand the obsession with a “vet”. You’ve got 3 1st rd picks and a great WR class. Just take another guy. Make sure it’s chalk obviously (hello Olave). History of veteran WR FAs is surprisingly bad.
Mike Kaye@mike_e_kaye

I think DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins can make for two really terrific pieces in a starting trio for years to come, but it becomes apparent each weekend that they need a veteran starting-caliber wideout to group with them. Allen Robinson, Mike Williams, Calvin Ridley make sense

@EaglesRewind Now show the expected production from 1st and 2nd round picks. And missing on a top pick is not better than missing on a free agent.

@EaglesRewind Do you have any evidence to put on the table here? Why wouldn’t you expect a top WR veteran to be significantly more plug and play than a 1st round WR who has a large % chance of just never being an ok player (see: Reagor, Jalen)?

I understand the temptation to view WRs like plug-and-play guys. But outside of the absolute best, it’s just not true. I have no idea why it doesn’t work that way, but it doesn’t.

@vbeats10 @Brian_Solomon @Bo_Wulf @ZBerm Yes I botched this. I think maybe my brain told me I was bidding on "at least one drive in the fourth quarter begins at a non-prime number" not "no drives begin at a prime number." But that wasn't consistent with the other points I was making. I might have just choked!
