A historic day for Assam’s agriculture sector as the “Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables” was inaugurated at Khetri, Kamrup (M) district by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. @himantabiswa and Israel’s Ambassador, HE Mr. @ReuvenAzar. Developed under the Assam State Horticulture Mission in collaboration with the Indo-Israel Agricultural Project (IIAP), this Centre represents a major step towards modern, technology-driven and climate-smart agriculture. With advanced facilities and innovative cultivation systems, it is poised to enhance high-value crop production, support year-round cultivation and promote off-season vegetable farming—directly benefitting thousands of farmers across the state. This Centre also stands as a symbol of the deep friendship and growing cooperation between India and Israel. I convey my sincere gratitude to the Ambassador of Israel and the Government of Israel for their strong support in establishing this transformative institution. Under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam continues to witness rapid and unprecedented development across sectors. His focus on timely and effective implementation of flagship schemes has led to tangible improvements in rural livelihoods and agricultural productivity. This project is yet another testament to his commitment to strengthening Assam’s farming community. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for prioritizing agriculture and ensuring the successful completion of initiatives that have greatly benefitted our farmers. The “Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables”, established with technical support from Israel, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as soil-less cultivation systems, drip irrigation, solar-powered cold storage, hi-tech greenhouses, a modern training centre and hostel facilities for farmers. The Centre has the capacity to produce 4 lakh high-quality vegetable seedlings in just 25 days. During my address, I also highlighted various schemes and policies undertaken by the Government aimed at ensuring farmers’ welfare and strengthening the agricultural sector. The event was attended by Hon'ble MP Smt. Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Hon'ble MLAs Shri Atul Bora, Shri @SBhttachrya, Hon'ble ASAMB Chairman Shri Manoj Barua, Agriculture Dept C&S and APC Smt.
