When my mother was pregnant with my younger brother she had hyperemesis gravidarum making for a tough pregnancy. She had to be induced 3 weeks early and my brother was born with underdeveloped larynx and weight 5lbs. The government has now decided that babies like my brother don’t deserve protection. Which makes me want to tell a more sinister story. In the early stages of my mother’s pregnancy, she was told that there was a 50/50 chance of my brother having Down syndrome. They then told my mother that she had until 24 weeks to decide if she wanted to ‘do something about it’. This is blatant advocacy for late abortion and is nothing short of soulless. All lives matter, that includes those who are yet to join us.

This afternoon, I held my baby niece, who is 10 days old. Tonight, I'm watching my parliament debate whether babies her same size and stage should be allowed to be aborted, even days before their birth. Our society surely can't be this barbaric.
