My year 6 students are drawing their favourite meal ensuring to add or take out any foods to make it more nutritious and healthy! They will then compare their meal to this image and will discuss the difference! I hope this spreads awareness to achieving #SDG2! #educ4750 #UoNTeach

@BritneyBaker21 I believe children can start helping to cook as a toddler. Kids love to help their families cook, the younger kids will need a lot more support and guidance.

Part of my project will focus on ‘older teaching younger’. Stage 3 students will share their knowledge on the basic ways to cook, helping younger children gain the skills to provide for themselves if in need. #SDG2 #educ4750 What is a good age for children to start cooking?

Literature is an engaging and relevant way to convey messages to students. Picture books allow students to use their imaginations whilst make meaning of concepts. Here are some picture books I'll be using in my unit of work for #SDG2. What picture books are you using?#educ4750

It’s so sad to see how many people suffer from the lack of food! I can only imagine how the pandemic has impacted this! It’s time to help those in need! Let’s work together to make a change and conquer #SDG2!
UN Food Systems Coordination Hub@FoodSystems

The #COVID19 pandemic is exacerbating global hunger. In 2020 alone, 2.37 BILLION people were without food or were unable to eat a healthy balanced diet on a regular basis. Sustainable & resilient #FoodSystems are essential for reaching #SDG2 of the #GlobalGoals: #ZeroHunger.

@Gabmaree Students will make their invisible meal and this can then lead to many discussion points! I will ask questions - How would you feel if this was your only or last meal for the day? - How many children do you think go to bed after this meal? - What can we do to prevent this meal?

This is just some ideas that could potentially help increase a child’s well-being, if they are feeling low. It’s important they learn their triggers and discover the different ways they can practice self care #SDG3

Finding stage appropriate texts can be tricky. My unit on #SDG2 is aimed at stage 3 and I found that many texts available on this were aimed at lower levels. @DGTinNYC provides a list of chapter books aimed at yr 5/6 about hunger, poverty and homelessness. doinggoodtogether.org/bhf-book-lists…
