@Emilyosheaeduc Thank you @Emilyosheaeduc and @jeremy_smith7 for spreading the word about our Food Education and Sustainability Training #FEAST. We need more people like you to help us reach out to schools and teachers about this excellent program. Thanks again.

@OliviaD6868 It's amazing what can be done with plastic when thinking creatively. It would be a great activity with the students to use rubbish and reuse it in creative ways within the classroom e.g., milk cartons for plant pots and bird feeders.

@SarahPrice720 When every student is involved and the whole school community is supporting the community project, it is more likely to make a lasting impact. The community project is also more likely to continue for years and years to come.

As stated in the article sustainable efforts by teachers often don’t make as much of an impact as their efforts are disconnected from one another. An integrated sustainable whole-school project could help solve this issue #SDG12 #UoNTeach
Olivia Duncan@OliviaD6868

Neus Evans (2019) paper on Teacher Education and Sustainability is really insightful to the power teachers have on future generations knowledge and understanding of sustainability. I think this pairs really nicely with the concept of 21st century skills. #educ4750 #UoNTeach

@KempTyla Well-being check ins are so important to incorporate in your every day classroom routine! It’s a great way to gauge how to best support each student every day. Even creating strategies with the children on what they can do if they aren’t feeling so good.

This is an inspiring book written by Nadiya Hussain and Illustrated by Ella Bailey! It goes through the motions of how students can stand up for themselves and maintain their mental health by having their own space and time alone. Would you read this book? #educ4750 #UoNTeach

@shailehwilliams @bags2benches It's so important for students to be able to see that the work they are putting into recycling is making an impact and can be created into a bench for them to use.

@Emilyosheaeduc Such a great way to include numeracy into a lesson! Students could create posters based on the figures and information shown in the resource! This is a great way to integrate creatives arts into a lesson and allows students to express their understanding of #SDG12!

Informative resource from the UN website about #SDG12 This could be a great way to integrate numeracy into a lesson about sustainable consumption. How else could this be integrated into the classroom? #educ4750 #UoNTeach

Picture books are a great way to help understand and broaden our knowledge on certain topics. As stage 3 are learning about #SDG2 the book ‘our little kitchen’ is a great way to help promote, influence and encourage community involvement. Would you help your community?

@Emilyosheaeduc These are great ideas. I think it is also a community asset that students and their families can become involved in outside of school. Not everyone has the space or the set up for a garden at home.

KWL charts are a great way for students to express their knowledge and thoughts on a topic. While learning about #SDG2 students will engage, activate and reflect on their understanding of Zero Hunger and how it impacts individuals.

@BritneyBaker21 I believe children can start helping to cook as a toddler. Kids love to help their families cook, the younger kids will need a lot more support and guidance.

Part of my project will focus on ‘older teaching younger’. Stage 3 students will share their knowledge on the basic ways to cook, helping younger children gain the skills to provide for themselves if in need. #SDG2 #educ4750 What is a good age for children to start cooking?

@BritneyBaker21 It’s so disappointing how much food goes to waste! This issue also relates to #SDG12 responsible consumption and production. Schools could compost food scraps and then use this to help their school gardens to grow fruits and veggies.

Wow! I can't believe how much food gets wasted per year! We need to teach our students the importance of reducing waste! Imagine how much food could be donated to families in need if not wasted! Let's think of some strategies to help reduce and prevent waste in schools! #SDG2

This is an amazing way to spread awareness of #SDG2! This activity can be incorporated into stage 3 learning as they will be asked to create their own #InvisibleMeal in their classrooms!

Thanks for sharing this app Olivia! It’s an awesome ICT tool and definitely could be used within my project. What a cool way for students to clean up our beaches and track their progress. #SDG14 #UoNTeach #educ47450

‘Litter Stopper’ is an app I have come across that could be useful within schools! It allows you to track the amount of rubbish being picked up in a certain environment. Why not considering using this approach to incorporate ICT and #SDG14. #EDUC470. Check out the app! 👨🏼‍💻📲
