Permissioned Domains just went live on the XRP Ledger. And Permissioned DEX has been voted in, expected to activate in about 13 days if no validators drop their votes. Permissioned Domains and Credentials are the foundation. They lets you define a "members only" environment on the XRPL. You set which credentials grant access, and who can issue those credentials. Think of it as an access control list on the ledger itself. Permissioned DEX builds on top of that. Once it activates, those domains can have their own order books. Trading environments where only credentialed accounts can participate. What does this mean for you? Depends on who you are: If you're a regular user: probably nothing will change for you. The open DEX will work exactly the same as before. Your trades, your offers, your payments, all unchanged. If you're a developer building on the XRPL: pay attention. When Permissioned DEX goes live, some liquidity on the ledger becomes "conditional". It only exists for accounts that hold specific credentials. If your app assumes all offers are available to everyone, that assumption will be wrong. Make sure your pathfinding and liquidity detection filters correctly. Otherwise you might show users exchange rates they can't actually get. If you're an enterprise or institution: this is built for you. You'll be able to create a trading environment where only vetted, credentialed accounts can participate. You define which credentials grant access. You control who issues those credentials. Compliance becomes possible at the protocol level. If you're a @XamanWallet user: we've got you covered. Xaman already supports signing and interacting with all the objects and transaction types for Permissioned Domains, and will be ready for Permissioned DEX when it activates. When you get a quote in the exchange screen or use pathfinding payments, Xaman will automatically filter out liquidity you can't access. And if certain liquidity requires a credential, Xaman will check your credentials and match them with what's needed. You don't have to think about it.
