@BrittAckroyd Refection is key! If we don't reflect on our practices we cannot create better learning activities to engage our students. Thanks for sharing

Why is health & wellbeing so important? Reflection is a key component that drives #action. By implementing reflection in teaching and learning activities, students are led to engage in higher-order thinking skills, which can lead to authentic enquiry. #educ4750 #UoNTeach #SDG3

@BrittAckroyd The is very eye-opening Brittany! You don't realise how much of an effect these events do have on our health & wellbeing. A daily check in when doing the roll would be a great way to just informally gauge how they are doing.

An eye-opening article about the wealth of exposure children have to stress and trauma nowadays. Fires, floods, COVID-19, war... What sort of impact do these events have on our Ss' health & wellbeing? What else can we do to help support our students? #educ4750 #UoNteach #SDG3

The truth is, the same systemic problems that are making us rethink our careers are showing up as students struggling academically and behaviorally. bit.ly/3trz8Ok

@JuliaCutajar Oh I love Harmony day! It's such a great day to celebrate in schools. I would run an activity where students draw their hands and for each finger they write who they feel like they belong with.

Harmony Day🧡 This day further encourages educators to learn about their student's culture and to apply this knowledge to create in depth-culturally responsive pedagogy. What activity would you invoke to create belonging and inclusiveness in your class? #SDG15 #UoNTeach #educ4750

A book on rubbish, recycling, and protecting our planet. What a great resource for lower primary students. This book could lead onto many discussions with students involving themselves, learning to live a sustainable lifestyle. #Educ4750 #UoNteach

@EvePollard_ Thanks Eve. That's correct, this is why I believe literature belongs in all KLA's not just English. The learning that comes out of books is incredible and will always be a great resource,

Another great piece of literature to be used in teaching about #SDG14. By introducing students to sea pollution and enabling them to become global citizens and think sustainability. I will definitely be using this book in my teaching. #UoNTeach #Educ4750
Jade Riley@ril78660724

This book ‘The Mess That We Made’ is an excellent resource written by Michelle Lord, that encapsulates global awareness of sea pollution and environmentalism. This book enables students to think critically about the future of our planet. #SDG14 #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach

@Brook_bailey_98 S could work in pairs where one creates a world where an ocean is contaminated with rubbish and the other creates a world where the ocean is rubbish free and the surrounding environment is clean! Students could then write down the effects these 2 worlds have on the environment!

Minecraft is a great way to incorporate 21st Century skills into students learning. And what a great way to engage students interactively into big issues such as #SDG14. How would you utilise #minecraft in teaching about Life Below Water? #UoNTeach #Educ4750

@jackmacp133 What a great activity Jack! Kind of similar but I would ask students what they could create in the game to stop any rubbish going into the ocean without affecting the environment. Students would be critically thinking ways to be sustainable for both the ocean and the land.

@Brook_bailey_98 In my classroom of Year 4 students I would ask students to create an environment surrounding the ocean that incorporates sustainable ideas keeping the oceans clean. Students would present on the IWB to peers. What would you do Brook?

Primary geography should include significant outdoor learning using the local area. #Place, #space and #sustainability should be blended into geographical place-based curriculum making (Dolan, 2015) It is definitely worth the read! #UoNteach #Educ4750 …dfonline-com.ezproxy.newcastle.edu.au/doi/pdf/10.108…

Dolan (2015) proposes that geographical place-based curriculum is pivotal in promoting #Education for #Sustainability. How do we authentically combine Geography and outdoor learning within our pedagogical practice? …dfonline-com.ezproxy.newcastle.edu.au/doi/full/10.10…
