The B10 champ game did end up being pretty meaningless, because swapping the one seed for the two doesn’t change much in terms of their path. Would’ve dropped them behind UGA

Get rid of championship games, 9 game conference schedule, no FCS opponents (looking at you SEC), play 1 random team from the other 3 power conferences or Notre dame. No more eastern Illinois for the mighty bama

A newsy wrinkle from Bevacqua: As part of an MOU signed last spring, Notre Dame is assured of a CFP berth if it is ranked in the top 12 starting next year. If this year’s situation unfolds next year, the final at-large team (Miami) would have gotten bumped for No. 11 Notre Dame.

Alabama got smacked but it wasn't THAT ugly. I suspect the most likely outcome is BYU falls, Alabama slides down and replaces them between Miami and Notre Dame and the Tide stay in the field just ahead of Miami.
