@PeteSamuels5 @Lostock_Henge Dumbass pigeon should get a Darwin award. Of all the times and open space there to land, it chose right in front of my moving bike with zero time for me to react, the absolute worst place possible.

A lot of debate about this one I see. Personally I think the TOR is overkill & a quiet word in his shell like would have been all it needs, there is nowt wrong with a bit of knee down action if you have control of the bike.

17 yr old with a provisional licence and L plates thought getting his knee down round the Victory Roundabout was a good idea right up until the unmarked police bike pulled alongside. Actually a nice lad, hopefully the pain of the points for due care will make him think twice.

@adeburton @timreay @HantsPolRoads Quite the opposite. It was night time on a narrow double parked street and I was looking for cars pulling out or anyone walking out from behind a car. And I didn't say it was a whole pumpkin, it was a piece 6 inches wide.

@StuNott @soupyferns This. It's abhorrent, even if this is the perp. Only a matter of time before the next Christopher Jeffries happens and someones life gets ruined for the sake of public tittilation.

Kind of insane that all of this info can be released about a suspect who hasn’t yet been charged with a crime
Southampton Times@sotontimes

🔺Daily Mail provide update on Joshua Kerry, the man suspected of murdering 78-year-old Anne Widdicombe in her Devon home in a suspected terrorist attack. Everything we know: - He’s a former officer worker at a lift company where he was described as 'part of the engine room' of the firm. - The suspect is described as a 28-year-old man from South Yorkshire who was arrested on suspicion of murder. - Detectives are investigating whether the attack may have been politically motivated, although police have previously said they remain open-minded about motive and have not confirmed this. -The man reportedly lived a quiet life, previously worked for a lift company and has also been described as having an academic background. Neighbours and people who knew him reportedly expressed shock, describing him as quiet and reserved. -Investigators are examining his background, including his political views and online activity. The article says officers searched his home and are examining items seized during the investigation. - Ann Widdecombe, 78, was found dead at her home on Dartmoor after suffering serious head injuries. Police believe she was attacked around 12:30pm on Wednesday, but was not found until the following day. - An earlier 26-year-old man arrested in the investigation has been released and is no longer under investigation. The investigation remains ongoing, and no motive has been formally established. - Police have not announced any charges against the current suspect at this stage.

@PeteSamuels5 @Lostock_Henge I forgot this incident. Going 30, I saw something flash in my peripheral vision, felt a thud and my front wheel slip. It was a pigeon landing right in front of my wheel. I turned around hoping I wouldn't have to put it out of it's misery, but the wheel had done that already

@Browser1972 @Lostock_Henge Exactly! On public roads you just don't know what's going to happen next. Want to ride even a little bit closer to the edge, go on a track day. Might just save your life.

@Zaum73 @timreay @HantsPolRoads Nonsense, here's the immediate aftermath of a dumb pigeon that landed right under my wheel when I was going 30 a few years ago. I was riding sensibly and kept the bike up when the wheel slipped. Completely different story if I was riding like that kid.

@majestietestie @Rodsoldier @Butterknifeopr8 It's just outright dangerous driving/riding. If he hits a patch of fuel or oil, he's coming off. He's not in a position to correct the bike if the wheel slips, the bike is just going to collapse. Dude behind him hits a patch, he's in a position to correct the bike.

@timreay @HantsPolRoads He can hit any number of things in the road and he's coming off, guaranteed. Gravel, fuel, oil, wet leaves, a manhole cover, etc and not all of them are clearly visible. My bike has collapsed under me at a slow speed, riding straight forward braking on a piece of pumpkin lol

@HantsPolRoads Genuine question. Why is this due care, assuming he wasn’t speeding? I’m not a biker so don’t know if knee down causes you to be less in control.

@richjmadrid_ QBR is even worse You can’t use stat based metrics to compare to generations where the defense could kill the QB and receivers QBs today would never survive that position

@PeteSamuels5 @Lostock_Henge I was once going down a road at 15/20 mph, applied my brakes and the whole bike came out from under me. It turned out I'd braked on a piece of pumpkin and now I'm even more cautious around Halloween time.

@Browser1972 @Lostock_Henge Dad and I came off, doing zero mph! A delicate mix of rubber, diesel, oil and rain. And shitty USSR tyres! ( Cossack 350 single, 1979) The busses used to come round the corner, and drop all kinds of shit. Dad also came off on a wet newspaper, no injuries thankfully!

@PeteSamuels5 @Lostock_Henge Yup. I've had my back wheel slip turning a corner in a much safer position than that. I didn't see what was on the road to do it but it was enough to turn my stomach. I would have come off 100% guaranteed if I had been riding like that idiot.

@Lostock_Henge Yes, there is definitely "something wrong with a bit of knee down". It's called a diesel spill. This shit still happens.

@NiceGuyKenny I felt we were going to lose after 30 mins or so. Stifling the game and not creating chances when Argentina clearly looked off the boil was always going to haunt us. We should have had our foot on their throat and finished them in the 1st half.

It’s a strange old feeling being 1-0 up on 84 minutes and still knowing for a fact you’re going to lose.

Imagine you're a well-put-together young man. You have your life in order, soon you're going to marry your girlfriend of 2 years... Then she gets a DM from a famous football player and INSTANTLY leaves you. Hypergamy is brutal.

@GavinGekko @BigPapaGBG @tomrenniesoccer Would he get the respect of spoiled multi-millionaire players that have seen it all before though? I'm thinking England are unmanageable at this point. There are no English managers worth a damn and foreign managers are never going to be as fanatical as the job requires.

Third time England have hired an ‘elite’ foreign manager. It hasn’t worked. It’s never worked in World Cup history for any nation. We should be ashamed of ourselves.

@adamdnathan It's going to sting more because it was impossible to believe someone could make decisions as bad as Southgate did. I would be fuming if was was an England player, a whole month of my life wasted to go out like that.

England should’ve won this game by two goals. We’ve gone right into our shells at a time where we should’ve pressed home the issue, and this is going to sting maybe more than any of the other heartbreaks.

@adamdnathan The FA will see this as a success because it was the 1st time we got to a WC semi outside of our own continent. Meanwhile, the rest of us will see it for the horrible failure it is. We'll be having the exact same conversation in 2 years afer the Euros.

Tried to be rational about this during the evening, but seeing it in print, there’s no justification for it. He was brought in to do ONE job, and has failed at it pretty catastrophically. Doesn’t deserve another go at the gig.
Matt Lawton@Lawton_Times

NEW: Thomas Tuchel has the full backing of the FA, and chief executive Mark Bullingham, despite that crushing semi-final defeat here in Atlanta. Will remain in charge of the England side for Euro 2028. Story to follow on @TimesSport

@CaniSports It's the managers job to manage, and he didn't. It literally couldn't have been any worse if a random fan in the stadium was put in charge after 54 mins, or anyone watching at home.

I dont think Tuchel told anyone to sit back but realised the weak mentality of the squad as they dropped deep and said to himself might as well try and help with the additions that fit this mindset. England players gave up themselves.
