How can people best inform legal challenges to fossil fuel projects? Two UCL academics including @st_pye and @fergusgreen of @uclspp have launched a database named Redline to help environmental NGOs and public-interest lawyers with just that.

Interesting stuff. The social cost of carbon is way higher than current carbon offset prices. This can only drive things in the wrong direction. Instead, isn't it time to shift the conversation to: how can corporations meaninfully contribute to society's well-being?

In the last few years, BP, Shell, and ExxonMobil have announced net-zero climate pledges.
They've spent millions of dollars advertising their investments in clean energy.
Last week, all 3 companies changed up those plans and said they are doubling down on fossil fuels.

Our new paper in @NatureClimate finds 1.5C pathways underestimate how much Global North must cut CO2 emissions and how fast oil & gas must be phased out globally
This is because pathways rely too much on phasing out coal, with less emphasis on oil & gas.
