We are witnessing a dangerous escalation of rhetoric and action that places entire populations at risk. When the President of our nation speaks of the possibility that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” we must recognize the gravity of where that path leads. This isn't strategy. It is genocidal language. Mothers. Fathers. Children. Families. The destruction of precious human life in an effort to control the natural resources of any nation is inexcusable. Our humanity, no matter what nation we live in, is non-negotiable. We cannot allow rhetoric to distance us from the reality of what is at stake. Every life matters. Every community matters. We must elect a competent and morally conscious Congress that truly values the sacredness of human life and will take action to hold our executive branch accountable. We must demand accountability from leadership that shows disregard for that responsibility. Kingian Nonviolence calls us to do more than respond. We must take seriously the study and practice of nonviolence, and we must develop leaders who operate from a love-centered place. If you changed your name when you got married, take notice.    Under the SAVE Act, your driver’s license wouldn’t be enough to vote. You’d need a birth certificate that matches your current legal name. Most women who changed their name at marriage don’t have that. And getting it costs money you shouldn’t have to spend just to cast a ballot.    Republicans aren’t targeting noncitizens. They’re targeting you.

Under the SAVE Act, you cannot use your driver's license to register to vote. Republicans want you to buy a passport instead. If you can afford one. This is a modern-day poll tax.

If we concretely love those who are hungry and thirsty, those without clothing, those who are sick, strangers, or prisoners, then we are loving the Lord.
