His math is clearly wrong. An F150 has at least 1000 kg of steel in the frame, suspension, brake calipers, crankshaft, etc. It takes about 700 kg of coke to make a metric tonne of steel. Coke is basically pure carbon, so 700 kg of coke consumed in the blast furnace generates 1.8 tonnes of CO2, which at the $130/t industrial carbon tax rate is about $230 per F150 for the steel part of the truck.

I've done the back analysis on the Raghuraman et al 2023 paper on spectral changes in satellite measured outgoing infrared. The observed watts per m^2 forcing in the CH4/NO2 band (their absorption wavelengths overlap) over the last 2 decades is neglible, 0.012 W/m^2 to be exact. We're wasting our effort on methane, it's just not a significant player. I would add these same satellite data are showing the climate models to have serious issues with what causes the earth's energy imbalance, longwave vs shortwave, so policy based on these IPCC models is misguided.

Canada-Alberta MOU deliverable #2 ✅

Today, we announced an agreement with Alberta to reduce methane emissions - a gas 80x more potent than carbon dioxide. Canada is a leader in reducing methane: methane emissions in Alberta have already dropped by more than 50% since 2014.

This is regulatory certainty. This is responsible development. This is being an energy superpower. This is Team Canada in action.

More to come in the next few weeks!
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

Canada is strongest when we work together. Today, Canada and Alberta reached an agreement to lower methane emissions in the oil and gas sector — to create good jobs, cut pollution, and help position Canada as the world’s supplier of choice for responsibly-produced energy.

"a gas 80x more potent than carbon dioxide." So what? Methane's contribution to the top of the atmosphere global energy imbalance in the 21st century is negligible. We know this from analysis of satellite monitoring of outgoing infrared in the CH4/NO2 band over the last 2 decades. And given that Alberta's anthropogenic contribution to methane is a neglible part of the global total, we're talking about a too small to measure impact on global warming.

@CENTCOM I've seen 3 videos from 3 different angles of this event. I think without a doubt the jet was hit. It may have made it to back to base, but no doubt it was damaged.

@RT_com Yeah no, this is very fake. It's also two clips spliced together taken at different places at different times of day. The first clip shows darker sky and a crane seen that the jet passes directly over. Second clip shows brighter sky and no crane nearby.

Agreement #2 of 4 from the MOU is complete. Alberta has already demonstrated for years we can reduce methane emissions while growing our economy. Today’s agreement with the federal government keeps the management of methane in Alberta’s hands while reducing those emissions 75% below 2014 levels by 2035. We’re getting the job done for Albertans. See full details here: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xI…

Methane is a negligible contributor to warming in the 21st century. This is provable by reverse engineering the data from Raghuraman et al 2023 top of the atmosphere outgoing longwave radiation spectral analysis paper covering actual observed changes in upwelling IR in the CH4/N20 band. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

I was grateful for the opportunity to speak about Alberta’s role in global energy security as part of S&Ps CERAWeek Spotlight series and a big thank you to Raoul LeBlanc, VP for Upstream at S&P Global, for moderating. With 177 billion barrels of recoverable oil, Alberta will be a key player when it comes to North American and global energy security goals. We want to double our oil and gas production by 2035 to 8 million barrels of oil per day and 22 billion cubic feet of gas per day. That means building new pipelines west, east, north, and south to ensure a safe, reliable and secure supply of Alberta oil and gas for the benefit of Albertans, Canadians, Americans, and our friends, allies, and trading partners around the world.

@jkenney Cut the overwrought hysterics. The Russians would never waste a drone on a church. It's a malfunction, maybe a failed AD missile, or a drone brought down by EW measures.

Although I understand the healthy skepticism Cory, as someone familiar with these negotiations, I’d say things are actually proceeding quite well. Of the 4 MOU agreements we need to get to, the project approvals one is done, as reported methane is close, and good progress has been made on the pricing and pathways ones as well. And the pipeline application is on track for June. Obviously we want to get all or most of these pieces done by April 1, but if we need a bit more time to get the right deal for Albertans, then we keep working at it until we get there. Like you, I know how often Alberta has had the rug pulled out from us by Ottawa over the years and can assure you that this Premier will not hesitate to tell Albertans if it happens again on this…but that’s not the case yet, so we’ll keep on digging in and try to get this incredibly important work done.
Cory Morgan@CoryBMorgan

Saying what every Albertan said the moment the MOU was announced. It's not worth the paper it's written on and is wasting our time.

It was great meeting with my friend and U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum @DougBurgum yesterday. In addition to a west coast pipeline, we want to make sure that more Alberta natural gas and millions more barrels of Alberta oil can go to our friends and allies in the United States, who continue to be our best and largest customer. I look forward to continuing to work with our U.S. partners to reach these goals so that we can achieve North American and global energy security.

The pipeline won't get built, since you won't find investors to expand production to fill it. That's because when you pile on carbon capture requrements, industrial carbon taxes, and stringent fugitive methane rules, that other jurisdictions don't have, the margin is not competitive on this oil. Not only do the federal rules make the oil low margin, but the consultation process in Canada for pipelines or oil sands expansion is lengthy and high risk, plus you'll likely have to give up some of the project to First Nations ownership to get the project approved. In short: why bother? Your investment has far more fertile ground to be planted in than a dysfunctional Canada.

Hodgson to Bloomberg "So that pipeline, the proponent of that's going to be the government of Alberta." Julie Fine "Your government supports a new oil pipeline to Canada's West Coast. But for that to happen, you've said that companies must build carbon capture in the oil sands." "You've set that April 15 deadline. Do you think you'll meet it?" Hodgson "We are in intense discussions right now." "I was talking with Premier Smith yesterday. I am confident we share a goal of building the biggest carbon capture project in the world." Curious to know which world leaders are asking Canada for this decarbonization in a time of crisis, other than crisis Carney? @JulieFineTX @timhodgsonmt @ABDanielleSmith

You're never going to hear Mark Carney say "Christian values are our values"; he's a secular globalist to his core, and he'll pander to the Muslims with statements like "Muslim values are our values", but he knows he can ignore the Christians, so he does with the exception of photo ops like this one.

Generosity is core to who we are as Canadians. We have a responsibility to carry it forward through service to others. This morning’s National Prayer Breakfast was a reminder of the commitment we each make as elected officials to lead with compassion, humility, and a sense of duty to one another.

@MarkJCarney "...our sovereignty..." The Liberals have been following the WEF/globalist/"post-national" playbook, and you will continue that based on your Values book. The whole "middle powers" shtick is about getting Canadians to buy into this globalist plan.

There's probably no better evidence that Canada is a dysfunctional country than these polls. Carney is running an unsustainable deficit, his definition of action appears be MOU signing photo ops, all while the CUSMA file, his most important job, stagnates. But the "elbows up" crowd love him, never mind Canada's bottom of the barrel GDP performance. The silver lining is when Albertans look at these polls, they likely conclude: "we've pulled the train long enough, there's no hope for the Canada we remember, let's cut the cord."

If acting on your conscience can be twisted into "aiding and abetting a foreign enemy", America has devolved into a profoundly dysfunctional society. Are you suggesting Joe Kent was paid like Benedict Arnold by the enemy? Because if you can't back up your insinuation then you should delete this post.

True. You can watch the full race replay a few days delayed on Youtube, if you have a VPN, but its not the same thing. Agree Nascar should cancel with TSN. Today instead of Nascar, they have top 50 defensive plays of all time which is just for really bored people. Last Sunday instead of Nascar they had reruns of Grey Cups, again just for really bored people.

Israel has pursued a policy of assassination by bombs that knock down large buildings, indiscriminately killing civilians. In fact Israel set this precedent, so if Iran has committed a war crime by targetting Israeli nuclear scientists and technicians, which it appears they did, then so has Israel committed a war crime. You've sown the wind and are are reaping the whirlwind.
