This is a common protestant error. The fact that Jesus was sinless is not what saved us. Yes, he also had to be sinless to be the spotless lamb. But his sinlessness is only a part of the solution to The Fall. He saved us because he was the God-man. No human, even sinless Mary, has the power or ability to bridge the chasm created by Adam and Eve at the Fall. Only God in the flesh of a man could repay the debt owed to God the Father, take on all the sins of the world, take on death, defeat it, save the captives, resurrect, and ascend into Heaven.
