🇳🇱 Amsterdam is bracing for a possible armed conflict with Moscow — Dutch intel chief warns Vice Admiral Pieter Reesink, head of Dutch military intelligence (MIVD), told Politico that Russia’s growing military buildup points to preparations for a future war — and not just in Ukraine. In 2024, Russia’s defense budget soared to $149 billion — up 38% from last year, and double the level it was in 2015. “Russia is producing much more artillery — with foreign help — than it needs for Ukraine,” Reesink said. He warned that Moscow is not just restocking, but shifting firepower closer to NATO borders, including the Baltics and Finland. Reesink believes Russia could be ready for the next war within a year — if its arms production holds and the Kremlin still has the will to fight. “The Netherlands, like the rest of NATO, is in a phase of enhanced readiness,” he added.

🇺🇦 Today, 205 Ukrainian warriors returned home. Among them are defenders of Mariupol and heroes from across the front line – servicemen from nearly every branch of our armed forces. For months, they were held across Russia in prisons built not only to strip them of freedom, but to erode their very sense of self. This return is a hard-won victory, made possible through persistence and international cooperation. Ukraine is especially grateful to the United Arab Emirates for their mediation. We also thank all those who refuse to forget the Ukrainians still in captivity – who continue to speak for them when they cannot. Behind every return is a family reunited. Ukraine will continue its relentless efforts until every captive Ukrainian returns to freedom and to the people who await them.
