@new2posting @ExistentialEnso Okay, I was talking about comparing corn to other crops. I'm also annoyed this is still being compared with a food source.

@mudrarakahasa @TriDeapthBear The amount per queiry is irrelevant when you think about how many are made per day+image generation which is way more intensive+it is not benifitting society in any way

I like the "agriculture uses way more water than ai" argument because it implies that asking grok to put someone in a bikini is just as important as literally eating food

@peculiar_jester unfortunately, if you care about data centers polluting black neighbourhood but still use twitter then you're pretty much a (very big) part of the problem. the data centers those articles talks about is owned by xai, the ones running grok and twitter in general.

@inkywitcheater @jothwip that still doesn't mean much if we're comparing the ai industry with the meat industry. even if one chatgpt prompt takes about 500ml and 2.5 billion daily queries, it would still be nothing compare to the amount of water needed just to keep 1.5 billion cattle hydrated in a day.

@jothwip Multiple people here already talked about why this comparison is bad but its also insane that its using claims of per pull request water usage being 30ml coming from tech companies instead of the 500ml figure from university of ca that matched other independant studies lol

@mrmvffins @Terrovax666 doubt it considering we're talking about industrial farming which means the entire world's ai use (which didn't get really big until 4-5 years ago) would need to (somehow) beat the total life-time emissions of these:

Eating meat (sustenance) wastes more water than AI (machine that adds no value to our lives) That vegan lifestyle has taken away braincells you cannot retrieve Fucking idiot
R@fictionalangst

eating meat wastes more water than AI. I‘m anti AI in regards to art - whether its movies, books, paintings etc but yall acting like anyone who like or uses AI is a climate terrorist meanwhile yall couldnt care less about the BIGGEST clinate destroyer: meat consumption

@mrmvffins @kallzivaz no, mate, saying "industrial agriculture causes much more harm than ai" does not equal saying "using ai does not affect the environment". they're basically saying that putting too much focus on ai's climate impact means actively ignoring these:

@kallzivaz AI consumes more water and electricity with 0 benefit to society or humanity I'm not denying that facrories do harm But to say they do more harm than AI is just understating how bad AI actually is Farming animals actually helps people, AI doesn't

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x 1. Wether it's a database or something else it's training data depends on other people's work, therefore I think it should be stealing or at least unoriginal, but is it officially recognized like that? Not really 2. Well the only influence the AI gets is through training right?

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x 1. They take the images and store it into their database, this was tested when people asked AI to make a wine glass half full of wine, it couldn't make it right cause there wasn't many images like that with that description 2. I didn't say they only do that but you can't feel-

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x You take the pictures yourself, and you either edit those yourself or have someone else edit them, there's no assistance other than maybe the camera itself, but that doesn't really make sense cause there's no other way to take a picture

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x 1. When I mean original I'm talking about like drawing it or making it yourself, references are okay but AI takes them off the Internet which is a big fuck you to artists 2. Like I said, AI can only really make "funny" things, it can't show any more emotions 3. In photography-

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x 1. It's wrong because it's not truly original if it uses stuff from the Internet to create something 2. Soul doesn't physically exist because like I said it's the feeling, the soul can come out in emotion as well 3. Just because you order it to do it doesn't mean you're doing it?

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x Which is mostly laughter cause memes, if it's meant to convey something with other emotions it falls flat because robots don't understand humans like us humans understand each other, its more considered real when humans make art because an real person made it don't a robot

@BumingLadder @joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x 1. The hours learning is worth it in the end because it's something YOU made with YOUR hands. It feels more rewarding this way 2. The soul in art is the same thing as the soul in soul food, it's not something you can technically measure, it's a feeling, ai has little feelings-

@joshbuilding @mouthfeeeel @Note0kahbro @crim7x Yeah but there's not really a soul in AI, just because you put your ideas in doesn't make it any better, it's just lazy honestly, if you don't have funds to pay someone learn

The reason that everyone's always bitching on Twitter about what is art or not is that despite seemingly defining so many people's identities, art isn't a real thing.
Aiko (Togata's wife)@fumikoded

You cant be lukewarm and go "i think these particular games are art". Either you think seriously about the medium and understand every videogame is a piece of art or an attempt at it regardless of quality or you just see them as products not unlike toys

@nikicaga “The World Health Organization has announced that we will start running out of clean water (drinking, showering, laundry, dishes) in the next FEW YEARS.” Where is such an announcement? Cursory search does not reveal one.
