It’s weird in this day and age who is and isn’t “allowed” to talk sports according to this app. Apparently you can’t know ball if you: • Didn’t play • Didn’t coach • Can’t break down film/schemes • Use analytics or stats There are multiple layers to being a “ball knower.” Nobody on here can truly tell you that you don’t know a sport. Your knowledge may not be as deep as someone else’s, but that doesn’t make you clueless. Especially in the internet age, where information is at your fingertips. You can learn film, analytics, roster building, cap management, history, scouting, strategy — whatever part of the sport interests you — without ever putting on pads. Before the internet, people learned through magazines like The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, Pro Football Weekly, etc. Today there are endless videos, breakdowns, databases, podcasts, and resources available. The idea that you MUST have played to analyze or discuss sports is lazy logic. By that standard, tons of women covering sports would be “unqualified” simply because they never played them. And obviously that would be ridiculous. You don’t have to be an expert in every layer of a sport to understand and discuss it.
