I get it. You need a place to decompress. So, the Covid Careful tend to take umbrage to outdoor transmission studies. Outdoors IS safer. But study after study has shown outdoor transmission. As do these 2 studies. Catching Covid Camping. 🧵.

@justalexoki She's right. When you add the food it's going to drop the temperature precipitously, and the faster you get it back up to the target temp, the better the results. Starting with a pan hotter than the target temp reduces that delta and therefore reduces the below-target time.

Continuing the WTF are people doing to feed themselves and their families discourse, I have no idea how this woman could spend $90 to make cheeseburgers at home. It costs less per person the more people you feed. Just bizarre commentary. Mostly she just sounds burnt out. This would take me 30 min and $30 (less with sales).

@nikki57 @castlehillmom @dont_be_common AR has zero sales tax on groceries, so whatever taxes she's paying on groceries is a city or county levy. I seriously doubt the people of Smackover imposed the 9% grocery tax on themselves.

@noknowsgoes There are treats in my house that are only for me because they are expensive and the kids actually *prefer* cheaper treats, and the man houses sugar too fast to be able to afford the fancy shit. My temperance has material rewards, and it is my privilege to enjoy them.

@TxGwyn74227 @NotLizBrody It's been sort of wild to realize that probably the *reason* I had short hair forever is that I knew I wasn't ever going to be a daily flat iron type of girl, and had no knowledge or resources to manage my actual curls, so long hair "looked bad on me".

@NotLizBrody I had short hair forever. Once I let it grow out all the curls came out. Pluse I got tired of always having to flat iron my hair. Decided to work with what I have

@RealDianeYap @justalexoki I actually have a fat husband and he knows I think the physique in the OP is the absolute ideal male body and let me tell you, that does not make him feel better.

@Michael_Druggan @lofofty @justalexoki (I mean I would say that, and do, once I am in a relationship with such a man where I can be sure he'll take it as a compliment. But never to a casual friend or acquaintance or god forbid a stranger.)

@Michael_Druggan @lofofty @justalexoki I think further than attracts, it actually invites comment. When I see a cut bodybuilder I know his physique is extremely on purpose and he's likely to appreciate a compliment about it. But I would never say "I love that you have a healthy layer of fat over all that muscle"

@justalexoki Women like muscular guys but it's socially unacceptable to admit to liking bodybuilder/fitness influencer type physiques in many female circles so this is the body type they compromise on.

@justalexoki I don't mean this in a "each of my kids is worthwhile individually" way, that's obviously true for any number of kids. I mean four is a really good family size. Their relationships with each other are so important to the family dynamics.

@RJ2833 @TiffaniMarie483 Rarely there's a 3) someone sick just got out of the car or I'M sick and someone vulnerable is about to get in. I sometimes transport a cancer patient (my coparent), or people who live with a cancer patient (my kids) and I don't think that's overkill, but I guess you might.

@RJ2833 @TiffaniMarie483 This is a bad comparison. You're making up stories about the person in the car. I'm sometimes that person and it's because either 1) my mask is so comfortable I forgot it's on, 2) I'm in the car for like two minutes or less. Nobody is afraid of their car.

People in my life make fun of me because I use two sets of tongs to make bacon; one for the raw and one for cooked. Are they right? Am I being overly cautious?

@collin_ruth89 I really find it hard to believe that this is the first time you're hearing that it's bad for your health. The childhood asthma rates are the canary in the coal mine.

@collin_ruth89 There's no gas line to my house. I am an anti-consumerist curmudgeon so I am sticking with my coils while they last, but when it's time to replace I will go induction and it will be even better than if I had gas.

@alaskastardust My first serious, marriage-oriented relationship was with a man who loved to dig holes, loved mines and caves, just wanted to be underground. He was very excited to become a Burrow someday. Alas.

interesting that when the topic of surnames comes up, this is always the go-to gotcha when men also usually get their surnames from their dads and it’s not seen as “his dad’s name” it’s just his name
