Today is National Medal of Honor Day. It is with profound respect and admiration that the #BurtonFD thanks all those who have earned this medal, along with their families, for their sacrifice and bravery.

@ForestryCommish has issued a Red Flag Fire Alert. All outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of @bftcountysc are prohibited until further notice.

This weekend #BurtonFD trained young ladies of Rhoer Club & Rhosebud Affiliate of Kappa Upsilon Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority on how to treat critical bleeding & perform CPR. While not certification training these ladies will still be able make a difference.

This morning #BurtonFD, MCAS F&ES, @BeaufortSC_EMS & @bcsopio extinguished a house fire in Grays Hill @bftcountysc. Firefighters extinguished a fire in the walls & was extending to the living room. (1) adult male was displaced & sustained minor injuries. @RedCrossSC is assisting.

This past week Calvary Baptist Church & Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Beaufort completed free @StopTheBleed training with #BurtonFD & in partnership with SC SLED, both received a free #JACOBkit, a mounting case, & all in attendance received a tourniquet. @bftcountysc

Just before 3pm today, #BurtonFD & @BeaufortSC_EMS responded to a (3) vehicle collision at the intersection of Castle Rock Rd & Robert Smalls Pkwy. No serious injuries were reported but traffic was delayed. This is the (43) vehicle collision this year for the #BurtonFD.

The #BurtonFD responded to (37) emergencies over the weekend; including, (18) medical emergencies, (2) vehicle collisions with injury, (1) vehicle fire, (1) unsafe outdoor fire and (1) trash fire.

#BurtonFD congratulates Russel Garrison on his graduation from @SCStateFire & welcome him, his fiancé Katherine, & daughter Dylan, to our department & family. Firefighter Garrison previously worked for the @FDNY EMS division prior to coming to SC & our warmer weather. @FireNews

With the birth of #BurtonFD in 1973 & the publishing of America Burning, leading to federal funding to strengthen fire departments, by 1979 the debate for career or volunteer firefighters began. Sadly today volunteer fire department have all but disappeared into history books.

The #BurtonFD responded to (29) emergency calls over the weekend; including, (19) medical emergencies, (3) vehicle collisions with one occupant rescued, (1) vehicle fire, (1) gas leak, (2) calls for downed power lines. Please stay warm and safe this week.

Yesterday #BurtonFD experimented with one of the newest fire nozzles in the market; the HEN Nozzle. This nozzle delivers more water with less pressure allowing firefighters to attack large fires with more options and maximum maneuverability. @HenNozzles @FireNews @EastCoastAlert

In 2025, Engine 84, which responds from our Pinewood fire station in @bftcountysc, responded to (633) emergencies, (8) building fires, (421) medical emergencies, (32) vehicle collisions, & (32) unsafe/trash fires. E-84 is licensed to provide advanced life support medical care.

In 2025, the #BurtonFD responded to approximately (10) vehicle collisions resulting in a vehicle rolling over in @bftcountysc. 2026 is not looking much better. @bcsopio @SCDOTPress @theSCDPS
