After the #SchoolBusCuts, @SuffolkCC want to build a new 60-place car park at @ThurstonCollege - suffolk.planning-register.co.uk/Planning/Displ…. But parent car parks are against SCC’s own Parking Guidance and School Travel Plan. What a mess! @FreeSchoolBus @BusSuffolk #SchoolTransportPolicy

I genuinely don't understand the total reluctance to sort this out. It's obvious to everyone what needs to change. Even Tory councillors are saying so openly. The obstinance from those in charge is staggering.

@Geates yes true! Walking definitely key. Just not when it involves so-called walking routes of a few miles+ for village kids on C roads without pavements and unlit muddy bridlepaths!

@BusSuffolk A few more walking (in towns) would also be a step forward (sorry about that!).

The reason we are asking for #3Changes to the #SchoolTransportPolicy @suffolkcc @CllrMaryEvans @HicksCllr is not because we are unreasonable or radical. It's because they would make the policy work for parents, schools & villages AND be easier to implement.

Oh no. New Opt-in for transport from September started today. Parents already experiencing problems. And we will continue to until some basic changes are made to the policy. #NotLearningLessons @suffolkcc

Trying to make parents feel guilty for something which a) costs more and b) increases the council's carbon footprint by some distance won't actually make life any easier for those already shouldering a greater load. Essentially they are asking parents to pay a rural tax

For those complaining about the BBC #LicenceFee just remember that it isn't just about TV stations. It helps fund quality journalism and has an important role to play in holding your government to account

Thanks to withdrawal of subsidy and punitive policies our villages & market towns are increasingly isolated - which is never going to help Suffolk be remotely green, let alone the 'greenest county'

Well what a surprise. @Chambers announce withdrawal of 84 public bus to Stoke by Nayland because the changes to #SchoolTransportPolicy no longer make it viable. Why are @Suffolkcc so determined to punish people for just using a bus??
