@MidwestGolfJake Funny enough there’s another Eagle Ridge (in Kentucky) with an even more absurd drop in elevation! It’s about 300yards to the green and I normally take about 60yds off if I go for it. Also not a good course, but it’s fun.

Back in 2013, I was playing The General at Eagle Ridge with some friends, and on the severe downhill 14th (I believe it's now the 5th), I drove the green. It was a 341 yard tee shot.
At the time it was fun! But I now know that I shouldn't have allowed myself to enjoy that moment. I had just hit the ball too far, and I should have felt shame rather than joy.
Man it feels good to get that off my chest.

@Daniel_Rapaport Yeah we shouldn’t be determining what’s best for the game from the opinions of those nasty insiders (ie Tiger, Jack, Augusta, USGA, R&A) let’s let the stoolies decide! Maybe if casual fans don’t care that’s a sign they shouldn’t be making the decision.

My view on this issue has changed pretty dramatically since moving to Barstool and moving away from the inside-golf bubble...yes, there are people upset we can't have pro events at Cypress/National anymore...but how big is that group? Should they be the decision makers?

I 100% get the pro-rollback argument. But I have a hard time with the principle of sports moving backward. Golf is in a tremendous place right now and these types of moves, at least symbolically, give the impression that golf yearns for a bygone era.
