@kevtharris @matthewbaszucki You can. But it would be much harder than with a low carb diet. High insulin keeps the body in energy-storage mode, that's what makes it so hard to lose weight, but definitely not impossible. A caloric deficit is a caloric deficit no matter the diet.

"Exercise is the key to weight loss." LOL how often have y'all heard this one?? Exercise is incredible. I swim. I lift. I wouldn't give it up for anything. But the research on exercise as a weight loss intervention is, to put it charitably, unimpressive. The reason is straightforward. The body is adaptive. It compensates for increased caloric expenditure through exercise by increasing hunger, reducing non-exercise movement, and adjusting metabolic rate. You can run five miles and end up with a net caloric change that is, after all the compensation, close to zero. Weight loss is a hormonal problem. Specifically, it's an insulin problem. You cannot out-exercise a diet that chronically elevates your insulin and keeps your body locked in fat-storage mode. Fix the diet. Then exercise for EVERY OTHER REASON, because there are many good ones!!

@AmmousMD Taking a statin with "normal" LDL is already insane, but taking it in a combination with ezetimibe? That's beyond insanity.

@ElieJarrougeMD My a1c varies between 5.7 - 6.2. My fasting insulin ranges from 1 - 3. Highest a1c was during my carnivore experiment. My endocrinologist said he cant figure me out.

Most doctors check fasting glucose. It’s the wrong test. By the time glucose rises, insulin has been elevated for years. Ask for a fasting insulin. Optimal is below 5. That number predicts your metabolic future. 🧵

This is all because @SamaHoole randomly appeared on my feed before I started the diet. Thanks Sama.

Weight loss stories and before and after pictures have no meaning anymore since GLP-1 drugs started being massively used for appetite reduction.

@mainstrm_critic @drmarkhyman That's why the lab's "normal range" is below 25, because they can't sell pills for high insulin. According to the lab, a fasting insulin of 20 is normal, but it's actually terrible.

@AmmousMD I'm a person who is not a slave to the pharmaceutical industry. All my other markers are good, my LDL is "elevated". I will never take a statin.

BREAKING: "I ordered the U.S. Armed Forces to do whatever was necessary to bring our brave warriors back home. A risky decision, because we could have ended up with 100 dead as opposed to 1 or 2. It's a hard decision to make, but in the United States military, we leave no American behind. We don't do it." - President Trump

@message2garcia @AjRockatansky So the position is like some form of scientific religion isn't it? Except the evidence from the studies *suggests* an association of LDL with atherosclerosis rather than causation.

@BillLawren32433 @ifixhearts More insulin resistance = more fasting insulin because more is needed to regulate blood sugar. What's so hard to understand?

@ifixhearts But the blood level of insulin has no practical use other than what is already being done to help Insulin resistance. Normal does not mean no resistance

@stevepcshotmai1 @AndrewZywiecMD You don't need to lower your LDL as long as you have low insulin. @grok show me that study that claims older people with higher LDL live longer.

@AndrewZywiecMD 56yo male. Lowered my LDL by 20% in 12 weeks with psyllium husk. Also, cut dairy and lower saturated fat. 1.5 hr daily exercise. Sleep 7-8 hrs. CT calcium 0. My doc still wanted me on static even with side effects. Got a new doc and she said no. Also started nattokinase.

I hope the public was paying attention today, watching thousands of "doctors" post about how they take statins. No symptoms, no signs, no pathology, just because. A bunch of young, healthy, "educated" individuals with medical degrees, shamelessly promoting pharma. Whores. Doctor's are men who prescribe drugs, of which they know little, for illnesses, of which they know less, to humans, of whom they know nothing.
Mauricio Gonzalez MD.@DrMauinforma

I take Rosuvastatin 5 mg + Ezetimibe 10 mg daily. My LDL is consistently below 50 mg/dl. Zero side effects .
