@ImCollegeSoccer Maybe the problem is focusing on "D1" instead of the best fit? Lots of schools outside D1 have elite programs, lots of D1's are anything but...

Nick Saban met today with Cody Campbell, the Texas businessman leading the yet-to-be-announced presidential commission for college sports, sources tell @YahooSports. The commission will continue developing, with Saban included. Further direction from the White House is expected.

USA Diving has indeed filed a motion for leave to file an amicus brief in House. Their brief would argue that the proposed grandfathering provisions are insufficient to mitigate the harm caused to the sport of diving by roster limits.

Ok I say "last thing Judge Wilken reads" but it looks like there's about to be a last minute amicus brief filed by USA Diving. That's fun. (Though at this point no guarantee that Judge Wilken does read it)

Quick update in the House v. NCAA settlement negotiations. The NCAA did make a proposal that includes "grandfathering" both current student-athletes and incoming recruits, making them exempt from roster limits going forward. Reply filing incoming from objectors.

@janemarple312 @DebbieE51612531 Most coaches had those students on the roster for a reason and didn't want to cut them in the first place. The assumption of bad faith by coaches who were transparent that they were following direction from higher up is really sad.

@DebbieE51612531 @CAACoachDave Not sure coaches can change their mind. If you were a fall athlete cut because roster limits you likely have that documentation. I'm sure some coaches who leaned on that reason wish they had just said it was performance.

@MTinSAV @analyticssoccer When the settlement is finalized, that's not going to be in there. They've already given up on letting conferences make even lower roster caps during some kind of phase in... conferences can't/won't dictate roster decisions like that.

@analyticssoccer @CAACoachDave I’m hearing that conferences will actually try to dictate this. In other words, schools within a conference will still have to abide by conference decision. That's why ND could announce - they don't have to worry about a conference commissioner.

The toxic meltdown that we will have to endure if we lose next Wednesday will be intolerable. I'm not for one second saying that it won't be justified, but it will be so intense that I won't be sticking around for it. I'll be logging out of this app until August.

I think there are a lot people that reasonably believe that implementing the terms of a settlement that has not been approved to the detriment of thousands of athletes, before objectors have even had a chance to be heard, is a significant act of bad faith. And doubling down by complaining that their acts of bad faith are the reasons they cannot remedy the situation to protect the athletes that they claim are athletes are at the heart of their mission - is wildly hypocritical.
