We congratulate the @CAIRFlorida team on successfully hosting their annual Muslim Hill Day at the Florida State Capitol despite attempts to intimidate and endanger them by @AGJamesUthmeier. Florida Muslims and their partners from various faith communities spent the entire day in the People's House. They met with their elected officials. They advocated for free speech, due process and religious freedom. They held a press conference in the capitol rotunda. They celebrated as the Florida legislature recognized Muslim American Heritage Month, alhamdulillah. Let this be a lesson to @RonDeSantis and every other anti-Muslim, Israel First politician who wants to silence American Muslims because we dared to oppose a genocide. You can smear us. You can threaten us. You can even try to endanger us. God willing, we will keep standing up for our rights and for the rights of our neighbors. And if you violate those rights, CAIR's attorneys look forward to seeing you in court. Just make sure you first ask 0-3 Governor @GregAbbott_TX and CAIR monthly funder @LauraLoomer how that worked out for them.

The thought of Florida Muslims exercising their constitutional right to visit the State Capitol and meet with their elected officials might terrifiy keyboard warriors like @AGJamesUthmeier. But Mr. Uthmeier's cowardice and his contempt for the Constitution are his problems, not ours. Every year, @CAIRFlorida and the Florida Muslim community host Muslim Day at the State Capitol. During the event, Florida Muslims from across the state visit the state legislature, meet with their elected officials and discuss important issues, including free speech, religious freedom and civil rights. Today, the attendees plan to focus on educating lawmakers about the dangerous of the Police State Bills, pieces of legislation that would give the Florida governor unchecked power to use secret evidence to instantly criminalize any American nonprofit organization he dislikes without any due process. No politician has no right to interfere with Floridians exercising their rights, and if they dare to do so, they should expect to find themselves in court answering to a federal judge. The Florida Muslim community looks forward to, God willing, a positive and productive day at the State Capitol.

CAIR, a designated foreign terrorist organization under state law, has called for a presence around the Florida Capitol today. I’ve requested law enforcement to be on heightened alert for any possible security threats. Further, terrorist organizations are barred from using any and all state resources, and we expect the governor’s executive order to be upheld. Alert FDLE and FHP immediately if you see suspicious activity.

We have an important update about the federal lawsuit we filed against @GregAbbott_TX's unconstitutional proclamation targeting CAIR's civil rights work in Texas: Attorney General @KenPaxtonTX just filed his response to our lawsuit. And it's remarkable. All that tough talk about kicking CAIR out of Texas has gone out the window. So has the fear mongering about "sharia law" taking over Texas. Like we said before, it's easy to spread conspiracy theories outside of court, but the law and the facts matters inside of court. Instead of defending the merits of Governor Abbott's proclamation, Mr. Paxton is arguing that the judiciary should not even issue a ruling on it. He claims that the governor's proclamation does not apply to our Texas chapters (it does) so they cannot sue, and that Abbott's order raises a "political question" that courts cannot resolve (they can). Again, remarkable. We still look forward to seeing Attorney General Paxton in court and arguing that the judiciary does indeed have the power to decide whether the governor of a state can simply label any American organization critical of Israel a "foreign terrorist group" and punish it without due process. This fight is not just about our civil rights group. This is about the constitutional rights of every American institution, whether secular or religious, liberal or conservative. We have won our last three lawsuits against Governor Abbott's attempts to silence Americans critical of the Israeli government, by the grace of God, and we look forward to once again protecting the First Amendment. BREAKING: CAIR Legal Defense Fund, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Muslim Legal Fund of America, and Akeel & Valentine just filed a federal lawsuit challenging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' blatantly unconstitutional executive order targeting our civil rights organization. Through this legal action, we will--God willing--remind @GovRonDeSantis that he is the outgoing governor of Florida, not the King of Florida, and that this is still America. Due process matters. Free speech matters. The law matters. No governor has the right to shred the Constitution and upend our legal system by unilaterally declaring an American organization whose speech he opposes a "terrorist group" and then punishing that group and Americans who support it, all without due process, all without legal authority, and all in service to a foreign government. Although we welcome the arrest of the individual who has once again allegedly attacked the Somali-American community at the same Virginia mosque, local and federal authorities must hold him fully accountable by filing hate crime charges. No one should be able to get away with repeatedly attacking the same house of worship. We must send a message that all faiths are welcome and safe in Fairfax County and throughout our nation.

From the very moment @GovRonDeSantis took office, he served the Israeli government instead of the people of Florida. He hosted his first official cabinet meeting in Israel. He diverted millions in Florida taxpayer dollars to the Israeli government’s bonds. He threatened to shut down every Florida college’s pro-Palestine student groups, only to back off when CAIR sued him in federal court. Now he wants to smear @CAIRFlorida. Unfortunately for Mr. DeSantis, none of his political stunts work out. He has been politically irrelevant ever since Donald Trump handed him a humiliating defeat on the campaign trail. We will do the same to Mr. DeSantis in a court of law, God willing. See you there soon, Ron. We hope you have better lawyers than @GregAbbott_TX. BREAKING: nine months after Israeli forces abducted Florida teenager and American citizen Mohammed Ibrahim in the middle of the night based on a lie and subjected him to torture, he has been released. Alhamdulillah. We commend Mohammed's family for their steadfastness and we thank everyone who raised their voices for him, from Tampa to Palestine and beyond. In a statement, @CAIRFlorida today said: “Mohammed should have spent this year studying for his learner’s permit and enjoying time with his family—not locked in a military prison, beaten, starved, and terrified. His release is cause for celebration, but it must also be a turning point. The U.S. cannot continue providing unchecked support to a government that tortures American children.” In a statement, @CAIRNational said: “Mohammed’s homecoming is a blessing, but it does not erase the torture and suffering he endured. The U.S. government has a responsibility to investigate Israel’s abuse of an American citizen and ensure that no other child—American or Palestinian—is subjected to the same treatment.”

I have some incredible news to share. Today, after 9.5 agonizing months, Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim was released from Israel’s Ofer Prison and into his father’s arms. The Israeli military had no right to take him in the first place, and the family credits the relentless grassroots campaign that kept up the diplomatic pressure to free him. He’s in rough shape, but okay, and on his way to the hospital for treatment. Once he’s discharged, his mom, dad, brother, and sisters will have his favorite meal and a very belated 16th-birthday celebration waiting for him at home. I’ll share more details soon. Now that Mohammed is free, the family is asking all his supporters to keep fighting for the hundreds of Palestinian children still unjustly trapped in Israeli military prisons. The family requests privacy for now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone — lots to be thankful for.

Following @POTUS's executive order instructing his administration to begin the process of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism has formally written to the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, demanding a comprehensive review of all cooperation with aid organizations connected to the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood affiliate, among them @CAIRNational. In its letter, the Ministry presents conclusive evidence, based on extensive research, of a deep and longstanding relationship between CAIR and #Hamas, as well as entities that actively promote Hamas’ goals. This includes CAIR’s involvement in conferences funded by organizations convicted of supporting Hamas, and collaboration with individuals and bodies affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood network. The Ministry also provides updated intelligence highlighting senior CAIR officials’ public support for the October 7 terrorist attack, their blatant incitement against the State of Israel, and severe antisemitic statements. It stresses that no organization with any linkage to terrorist groups should be allowed to engage with Israeli authorities or with Israeli citizens. The Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism will continue to act decisively to safeguard the security of the Israeli public and the safety of Jewish communities worldwide.

We welcome the decision by the USF Police Department to bring felony hate crime charges against the three individuals responsible for harassing Muslim students. This decisive action sends a clear message that Islamophobic intimidation on campus will not be tolerated, and it serves as a critical step toward justice. However, a similar hate crime against NSU students in Hollywood has still not resulted in any charges against the perpetrators. We call on the Hollywood Police Department to follow USF PD's exemplary leadership and move swiftly and decisively to file hate crime charges in that case. cair.com/press_releases…
