Dexter Lawrence contract with Bengals will be 3-for-70 ($23.3M/year). That is below market and team friendly. There are 9 DTs making more per year, and Chris Jones is at $31.7M per year as an older player.

With Dexter Lawrence on NYG, the Giants' defense has ranked: 32nd 24th 31st 31st 22nd over the last 5 years in yards per carry allowed. Nobody is happy to see Dexter Lawrence go and their DL is worse, yes. But let's not act like this was working with him.

@CarlBanksGIII @FittieSmalls In hindsight , I feel like you might have ate some BS that this garbage front office fed you Carl… why don’t you just keep it real and tell us what you were told and by who … it clearly led you to make the comments that you made Dex is a beast … opposing OL know, so should u

The Giants are 44 games under .500 with Dexter Lawrence, meaning Dex has been much better at his job than the GMs/coaches have been at theirs. That’s why he’s pissed. And that’s why it helps having baggage-free newcomers like Dawn Aponte & John Harbaugh talking to Dex’s agent.
Justin Penik@JustinPenik

A timeline of the Dexter Lawrence situation dating back to him signing an extension back in 2023. Also breaking down why Dex is pushing for more money. Longer deals are VERY team friendly and this is exactly why.

@art_stapleton Was it not the GM who lost a pro bowl player (Love), an all pro player (Leo) and an offensive player of the year (Saquon)? Oh not to mention the NFL leader in interceptions (McKinney) Oh not to mention all were team captains… No nothing is Joe Schoen’s fault he’s been great

The GM doesn't lose the locker room. The HC does.
CS@the_captain66

@art_stapleton totally reasonable and fair. if this was the only evidence we had of it being JOE VS THE LOCKER ROOM, it could be easily dismissed, but on top of all the other reports and rumors, the cumulative effect seems to paint a picture that is fireable to me.

This is so short-sighted. Joe Schoen is not the reason why the Giants are not paying Dex what he wants. If John Harbaugh wanted to pay Dex what he wants, he'd be paid what he wants. This idea you'd fire a SVP/GM because a player doesn't like him is way off base.

@art_stapleton Why I keep saying pay Dex fire Joe

If Dexter Lawrence has an issue with Joe Schoen or feels as though the Giants' front office has let him down, there's one solution to try to convince Dex that this team will be different: Put John Harbaugh on phone with Dex - not to talk numbers, just to hear him out.

If you give Dexter Lawrence a raise, are you afraid of the ripple effect to other players? Andrew Thomas and Brian Burns can make a case they deserve a raise that is stronger than what Lawrence brings to the table

@nycyanksgiants @Schultz_Report He was still.. THE best player on the team THE face of the franchise THE captain/leader of team They didn’t want to pay Saquon $13M… But they paid $6M to James Hudson and $10.5M to Russell Wilson just last season? (& was reliable enough to win the OPOY + the Super Bowl asap)

The #Giants’ situation with All-Pro DT Dexter Lawrence is not in a good place and has not been for a while. While money is a big part of it, another element is that Lawrence has seen many players leave the organization over the years. He’s stayed quiet, been a good soldier, and tried to be a team guy. So when it became clear last year that he had outplayed his contract and it was time for a new deal, the organization not taking it so seriously felt like a slap in the face. That has continued this offseason. In the words of one source: “He understands what those players who were shown the door by the Giants felt.”
