@bernhardsson i hope you are right! my guess is that we'll actually make policy changes here b/c the impact is still pretty bad and we'd rather not guess. no skin in the game either way tho.

@can I'm not trying to make a statement about policy here, just predicting the effect on the gene pool.
Though ofc policy and culture also matter. Alcoholism in Europe is I think a fraction vs historically, and it was probably a combination of culture, policy, and genes.

My optimistic take on this is that evolution will take care of this. There’s a bunch of genes that cause phone addiction (very simplified) and those genes are basically going to go to zero in the next 50 years.
