UPDATE FROM COLORADO: Since being deployed to Colorado late last week, our strike teams have been hard at work, moving wherever they're needed most. On the Aspen Acres Fire, one strike team has been constructing containment lines and supporting firing operations to help strengthen the fire's edge. Another strike team was reassigned to the nearby Pole Canyon Fire after it ignited, providing immediate support on a new incident. Their commitment hasn't stopped when the shift ends. After completing a 24-hour assignment, one engine crew came across a trailer fire while running errands in town. They immediately stopped to assist the local fire department, supplied water to another crew, and helped extinguish remaining hot spots. There was also a special reunion along the way. While traveling between assignments, our crews were stopped by the Custer County Sheriff's Office, not for an emergency, but by a familiar face: retired CAL FIRE San Benito-Monterey Unit Assistant Chief Adrian "Butch" Washington. At 72 years old, he's still serving his community and was happy to see CAL FIRE in Colorado. We are so proud of our crews. This is what showing up looks like, on the fireline and in the community. 👏 #CoFire #ColoradoFire #ColoradoFires2026 #MutualAid #CALFIRE @CALFIRENEU @CALFIREMMU @CALFIRELNU @CALFIRESKU @CALFIREBEU @CALFIRETCU

🌊 California's coast belongs to all of us - and now, your voice matters more than ever. The federal administration has launched an unprecedented review that could weaken California's ability to protect its own coastline and severely limit public oversight on decisions affecting offshore oil drilling, pipeline infrastructure and other major coastal projects. For nearly 50 years, California's Coastal Management Program has helped ensure our coast is managed through a collaborative state-federal partnership that balances public access, healthy ecosystems, tribal interests, local communities, and a thriving $51 billion coastal economy. Now, Californians have an opportunity to speak up. Whether you're a resident, tribal representative, business owner, angler, scientist, conservationist, or simply someone who cares about California's coast, your perspective matters. @NOAA is accepting public comments through Aug. 22, with public meetings on Aug. 10-12. 🔗 Make your voice heard. For five decades, the @CAConservCorps has empowered young Californians to leave our state better than they found it. Corpsmembers have protected California's natural beauty, answered the call in times of crisis, and helped build a more resilient state. California is stronger because of every Corpsmember who's answered the call. Thank you for your service.
