Very positive meeting with 🇧🇦 BiH Central Bank Governor Jasmina Selimović today. I underlined the importance of Central Bank's independence, the Currency Board's integrity and the key role it has in ensuring financial stability. We revisited the opportunities BiH could have if it joins the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), including simpler, faster and cheaper bank transfers, and discussed the state of play for the application. @CBBiH has our full support in this process it is coordinating. We remain available to provide technical assistance as required. Being part of SEPA would benefit both businesses and individuals, but it requires authorities to enact necessary legislative changes on the entity level. This opportunity under the Growth Plan should not be missed! It is further additionally important for BiH to take the necessary steps to avoid grey-listing by the Financial Action Task Force. Grey-listing could negatively affect BiH's chances of joining SEPA. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦

A great pleasure to host Central Bank of BiH Governor Jasmina Selimović at our meeting of 🇪🇺 Ambassadors today. We spoke about the economic outlook for BiH, including recent growth projections which were revised downwards. The longer the current constitutional and political crisis continues, the deeper the impact on the economy will be. We also spoke about the opportunities for BiH from joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). Joining SEPA will make bank transfers simpler, faster and cheaper - benefitting businesses as well as individuals. The Central Bank of BiH is coordinating the application process and is trying to help accelerate the necessary legislative changes that have to be enacted at entity level. With the right political engagement, Bosnia and Herzegovina could apply to join SEPA at the beginning of 2026. This is not an opportunity that should be missed. The EU will continue to provide the required technical assistance. We also had an exchange about the impact of ongoing and future arbitration cases on the BiH economy as well as the Central Bank. We underlined the importance of @CBBiH's independence, the integrity of its Currency Board as well as its role in financial stability. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦
