Important discussions in Europe House today organised by the War Childhood Museum Sarajevo @WCMsarajevo about remembrance and commemoration as essential elements of reconciliation, empathy, inclusiveness, and building a better future. The wounds of the past continue to impact the lives of citizens in BiH and across the region. There is a collective responsibility to remember all innocent civilian victims and reject any attempts to deny or distort the facts of the past. The glorification of war criminals and the spread of hate speech have no place in democratic societies. The EU, as a project founded to ensure peace and security in Europe will remain a committed partner to BiH to promote an environment conducive to reconciliation. The absence of trust remains one of the biggest obstacles for BiH in moving forward on the EU path. 🇪🇺🇧🇦

Constructive discussion with Head of the PDP Caucus in the RSNA Igor Crnadak @evropskaSrpska. We spoke about the current political situation and state of play regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 🇧🇦 EU 🇪🇺 path, focusing on the opportunities that are on offer and the costs of inaction. We would like to see Republika Srpska engaged again in the EU accession process, for BiH to move forward towards its future in the EU. It was a day of great optimism. Two years ago today, the European Council gave a green light for Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦 to open accession negotiations with the EU 🇪🇺. Instead of a new start that would help turbocharge BiH’s significant unused potential, it now looks like yet another missed opportunity. The risks of inaction are no longer abstract: slower EU integration, missed reforms, lost chances for economic and political advancement, and falling behind neighbours. BiH’s political actors have demonstrated before – including in the run up to the European Council decision two years ago - that when there is political will, they can find consensus and solutions that benefit all. HR/VP @kajakallas met today with Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović to discuss deeper cooperation on foreign and security policy, as well as BiH's EU path. In a fast-changing geopolitical environment, values-based cooperation within the framework of the EU accession process is essential. Moreover, deepening regional cooperation is key to stability and security in the Western Balkans. The EU remains fully committed to @euforbih's mandate, and supporting BiH institutions maintain a safe and secure environment. EU membership remains the best guarantee of a better future for BiH, and the EU will continue to engage at the highest level to encourage progress. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦

Our commitment to 🇧🇦BiH's future in the 🇪🇺EU continues to be reiterated at the highest level, including during today's meeting between @eucopresident and Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović. The door to EU membership for BiH is open and the momentum for enlargement is there. A multipolar world requires multilateral solutions. In this new reality, the EU must defend the rules-based international order. Violations of international law must not be accepted, human rights violations must not be tolerated. Freedom and human rights cannot be achieved through bombs. Only international law upholds them.

EU Ambassadors from across the globe are gathering in Brussels for the EU Ambassadors Conference. They play a key role in fostering cooperation and, at a time when EU foreign policy is at a turning point, speaking with one voice is more important than ever. Glad to take part in a discussion about the 🇪🇺 Growth Plan, competitiveness and current global challenges in BiH, organised by @SLOinBIH 🇸🇮. Enlargement is a crucial geopolitical investment for the EU and for BiH. The Growth Plan for the Western Balkans is a clear example of EU commitment and desire to bring the region closer to the EU and offer some benefits of membership before accession. We count on our BiH partners to do their part too, by undertaking the reforms needed to move forward on the EU path, as it remains the best guarantee of stability and prosperity. This is what the wide majority of BuH citizens want, and the EU will continue to support constructive efforts that help lead BiH, and the region, towards a future in the EU. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦

Thank you to 🇧🇦 BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić for joining our meeting of 🇪🇺 EU Ambassadors in #BiH today and for the open and candid exchange. We discussed the current political situation in BiH and across the world, with a focus on the current state of play for the EU path, and the prospects for progress in the coming months. There are costs to inaction. There is a concrete risk that if Bosnia and Herzegovina does not take swift action on the Reform Agenda of the Growth Plan, there will be cuts in the next months to the country's overall allocation of €976.6 million in EU investments. The EU and its member states will continue to engage with political actors representing diverse views in BiH to encourage progress on the EU path. The offer of the EU is clear, is based on common values, respect for each other and the strong commitment to work for the overall good. Enlargement is the best geopolitical investment for the EU and it remains the best guarantee of prosperity and stability in BiH. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦

Excellent discussion with representatives of the business community in Mostar today. Businesses and the private sector are key to driving economic development, as well as advocating for reforms that benefit the whole of society. There are a number of issues on the EU path that directly affect the business community, including the implementation of the Reform Agenda of the Growth Plan, closer integration with the European Single Market, joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), addressing the introduction of CBAM and Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations. 🙏 Thank you all for a constructive discussion and exchange of experiences. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦
