An open letter to Zimbabweans, There is a growing narrative, amplified by voices such as Matrix Zw suggesting that because the Constitution speaks about term limits, the length of those terms can be quietly adjusted. This interpretation is misleading. Zimbabwe’s Constitution is not silent, it is structured. It clearly establishes both the number of terms and the duration of each term. Any change is not a matter of opinion or convenience, it requires a formal constitutional amendment grounded in law and accountability. We must be careful not to allow technical arguments to weaken fundamental principles. The Constitution exists to limit power, not to be reshaped by it. If we accept that term length can be extended today, we open the door to further changes tomorrow, changes that may undermine democratic rotation, accountability, and the will of the people. This is not about personalities or platforms. It is about protecting the integrity of our constitutional order. Zimbabweans must remain vigilant. The strength of a democracy lies not only in its laws, but in the willingness of its people to defend them. Power must not adjust the rules to preserve itself. The rules exist to control power. #Noto2030 #DefendTheConstitution

The Constitution of Zimbabwe, ratified in 2013 following 4,821 exhaustive public outreach meetings across 1,950 wards, enshrines the profound sacrifices and aspirations of Zimbabweans, rooted in the pre-1980 liberation struggle for independence and the post-1980 pursuit of authentic democracy. This COPAC-led process, spanning 105 days, united farmers, students, mothers, workers, and youth in a wave of hope and solidarity, forging a robust framework for rights protection. Drawing from the indomitable spirit of both the pre-independence liberation and post-independence democratic efforts, it culminated in a triumphant referendum, where everyday Zimbabweans from all walks of life delivered a resounding 95% approval. In a profound betrayal, ZANU-PF’s Amendment (No. 3) Bill, H.B. 1, 2026, advances through a mere 64 hearings scheduled from March 30 to April 2, 2026 - averaging fewer than seven per province over four days - constituting a calculated procedural coup that silences millions of voices. The bill audaciously extends terms of office, transfers presidential elections to parliamentary selection, postpones polls until 2030, reassigns voter oversight, overhauls the judiciary, politicizes traditional leadership, and abolishes the Zimbabwe Gender Commission, thereby entrenching state capture and authoritarian control while violating our cherished democratic achievements. This disparity reveals catastrophic democratic decay and regression, eroding pluralism, desecrating Section 67’s fundamental rights to political participation, and setting Zimbabwe’s democracy back by decades. All Zimbabweans must actively confront this malaise, which threatens to consolidate unaccountable power and undermine the 2013 Constitution’s participatory principles. The Constitutional Defenders Forum @cdfzim urges individuals and organizations to engage fully in the public hearings from March 30 to April 2, 2026, by attending provincial sessions, submitting written representations to Parliament (via bills@parlzim.gov.zw or designated deposit boxes), and opposing provisions that weaken direct democracy and institutional independence. Join the Constitutional Defence Forum via app.cdfzimbabwe.org to defend and uphold the constitution. We must challenge this backsliding through lawful avenues, including petitions, civil society campaigns, and advocacy for a national referendum, ensuring amendments align with the popular will rather than elite agendas. The @cdfzim unequivocally rejects the bill in its entirety to uphold constitutional integrity, protect rights, and honor the sacrifices of past struggles. Collective action is imperative to reclaim and strengthen Zimbabwe’s democratic future.

It is possible that, even as the regime fixates on its reckless attempt to butcher our Constitution, those of us who bear the scars of its brutality, across many divides, old and new and who yearn for a better Zimbabwe, can unite around one critical task: to firmly reject Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3. #NoTo2030!

IN TIMES of oppression and dictatorship, the civic duty and patriotic act of progressive students, journalists, intellectuals, and professionals becomes greater, not smaller. 1. Debate issues, not personalities.
2. Speak truth to power.
3. Defend the interests of the citizens.
4. Preserve facts, truth, and professional integrity.
5. Refuse trinkets, bribes, and complicity.
6. Encourage citizens courage, not fear.
7. Expose injustice without hatred or prejudice.
8. Encourage not discourage or demonize the symbols of the struggle.
9. Stand firmly on the side of freedom, dignity, and the citizens. What else do you add ?

THE ECHOES OF THE NEW…In the quiet, sacred beginnings of pregnancy, there is little noise—just the steady miracle of growth. But soon, the whispers turn to celebration: a baby shower, a joyful welcome, and then the world gathers to witness the arrival. Messages of congratulations will pour in from every corner. I hear them already—echoing across valleys and cities: “Happy Birthday, New Nation. Welcome, #AGreatZimbabwe Indeed #Godisinit

🔸If they can butcher the Constitution to give themselves an additional three years in office, what stops them from extending that period to ten years through a further amendment? The existential threat is greater than we are prepared to accept. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

PLEASE RETWEET, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT This leaked document is a Cabinet memorandum from Zimbabwe’s Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi. It proposes undemocratic constitutional amendments with huge implications for Zimbabwe. These include having Emmerson Mnangagwa as a life president, because at 86, if he gets another three years in office after his term ends in 2028, he will be 92 years old in 2031. When I broke the story about Members of Parliament being given land in Mabelreign to block any impeachment attempt and to assist the Zimbabwean dictator in securing a term extension, one that would also benefit the crooked MPs, Jonathan Moyo wrote a long article accusing me of misinforming and disinforming the public. Many, including some who see themselves as opposition, danced to his propaganda piece. I wonder what they will say now that this leaked document confirms my reporting and the indirect intentions of the land grab. According to this document, Mnangagwa and his surrogates plan to extend the terms of office for the President, Parliament, and Councils by up to three years, through a two-thirds parliamentary vote. This is why the MPs were illegally given land, it is greenway land, and the allocation was unlawful and had nothing to do with the 2013 land offers to MPs. As I reported at the time, they plan to postpone elections for that duration. They also intend to repeal term limit protections in the Zimbabwean Constitution. They also want to remove Section 328(7), which currently prohibits the retroactive application of term limit amendments. This means they are attempting to remove a constitutional safeguard that prevents leaders from benefiting from changes to term limits after they are already in office just like they did with the disgraced Zimbabwean Chief Justice, Luke Malaba. This change would allow the amendments to apply to current officeholders, effectively giving Mnangagwa and the crooked MPs a chance to benefit from extended terms. They also want to shift voter registration responsibilities from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to the Registrar of Births and Deaths. The direct consequence of this is the postponement of elections by up to three years, which of course is undemocratic. Stripping ZEC of its voter registration mandate undermines the independence and integrity of the electoral process in Zimbabwe. The panic that set in after I exposed the land grab in Mabelreign, and the hopeless defences that followed, were clearly not only aimed at labelling me a misinformer, but also revealed the anger felt by the architects of this crooked, unconstitutional, and undemocratic attempt to drag Zimbabwe into becoming a real banana republic when the land documents were leaked to me. There was a coordinated attack involving Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information, Jenfan Muswere, ZANUPF trolls, and intellectuals for hire praising Jonathan Moyo’s propaganda piece, along with many others who continue to benefit from this crooked regime. Sadly, some naive and opportunistic opposition activists joined in the attack backed by a fake news website. I now ask the government’s chief propagandist, @nickmangwana, and his various surrogates to tell the nation whether this leaked document is true or not. Silence will confirm the document’s authenticity. I also ask the opposition MPs in parliament if they will push back or they will grab the opportunity to drink from this poisoned well?

🟡RESOLUTIONS OF THE CITIZENS COALITION FOR CHANGE CITIZENS NATIONAL ASSEMBLY (CNA) MEETING HELD ON THE 21 OF NOVEMBER 2023 The Citizens National Assembly (CNA) of the Citizens Coalition for Change held its 19th Session on November 21st in the context of the deteriorating political and economic situation. As the proceedings began, the assembly observed a moment of silence in remembrance of Pastor Tapfumanei Masaya, our change champion who was tragically abducted and murdered in Harare, Zimbabwe. During the session, the CNA received the National Report from the Change Champion in Chief, Advocate Nelson Chamisa. Additionally, reports were presented by the following bureaus: a) Bureau for Elections b) Bureau for Communications c) Bureau for Administration d) Bureau for International Relations Since the fraudulent and flawed August 2023 elections, the nation of Zimbabwe continues to be confronted by unprecedented developments, engineered by the ZANU-PF. In response to some of the latest events, the people’s project, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)’s Assembly has met on the 21st November 2023 and adopted the following resolutions: Deteriorating Human Rights Situation: The deteriorating political and human rights environment, is directly linked to the disputed and unresolved August 2023 harmonized elections. The Assembly noted with great concern, the rapidly deteriorating Human Rights situation in the country. These include the recent abductions, murders, arbitrary arrests, unlawful recalls, and the ongoing illegal detention of political prisoners, including Job Sikhala, Jacob Ngarivhume and the MRP members. The CNA strongly condemned the abduction and murder of Pastor Tapfumanei Masaya and expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in bringing the culprits to justice. The CNA also condemned the abduction and torture of Member of Parliament Hon Takudzwa Ngadziore and Hon James Chidakwa, both our change champions. The Assembly calls on the relevant state authorities and institutions to immediately redirect Zimbabwe to the rule of law and constitutionalism. The Assembly further strongly urges on local and international human rights organisations and defenders to continue to call out the government of Zimbabwe on its impunity and arbitrary and illegal application of the law. Unlawful, Criminal and Expensive Recalls: The Assembly re-emphasised the illegality and criminality of recalls of our elected deployees in both the parliament and local authorities. The Assembly also re-emphasized that Mr. Sengezo Tshabangu is not a member of the Citizen's Coalition for Change and that the position of Secretary General he purports to hold does not exist in the structures of the party. Furthermore, the CNA expressed disappointment and disapproval of the continued unlawful recalls of its MPs and councillors by an imposter, with support and collusion from the Speaker of Parliament and the Ministry of Local Government. These illegal recalls were made despite official communication from the CCC leadership and pending court processes. The CNA also expressed dismay at the incumbent's lack of concern for the needs of ordinary citizens. It cited the allocation of over USD 5 million for unlawful by-elections, initiated by an imposter, while citizens are suffering from a lack of basic medical supplies in hospitals. Worsening Social-Economic Environment (Deepening Poverty) - The Assembly has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating socio-economic conditions, characterized by high inflation rates, frequent power outages, and deepening poverty. The citizens are facing immense difficulties in making ends meet.
