@TheFigen_ My dad was that guy. At his funeral so many “kids”, now grown with their own families, came out to speak about how he was the dad they never had and the model for their own manhood.

“Your man is the neighborhood dad!” Kids don’t fake that kind of love; it means he’s doing something right.

@JasonCChilders I ran into this headfirst. When I first got access to AI chatbots, I was cranking through documents, decks and call transcripts. Building great knowledge bases but realized I didn’t “know anything”.

@CDButler Agreed - there was often a lot of new thinking that emerged from the tortuous process of curating and editing. The rapid assembly LLM approach does a credible job of making something useful, but skips the introspection that can lead to insight.

Just diving into the "Slow Productivity" / "AI Reality Check" overlap. The danger of LLMs isn't that they'll replace us; it's that they make it too easy to be "pseudo-productive." We're generating more memos and decks than ever, but is the quality of the actual thinking improving

The "Portafilter Reset." Knocking the puck is a physical signal that the transition from "learning mode" (KT calls) to "execution mode" has begun. In a world of digital friction, these rituals keeping the "Deep Work" gears greased. Now to triage the inbox and find the real work.

@Tesla FSD still hasn't mastered the Chicago exit lane. Too passive to jockey for position, and now I’m taking the long way home. There’s a specific level of "predictive assertiveness" the software lacks when the gap closes faster than the neural net expects.

Getting rid of the Models X and S means @Tesla no longer has any aspirational vehicles. They’ve conceded that end of the market to @Rivian and @LucidMotors.

How could this be? Didn’t FL ban “climate change”? Surely ignoring it would make it go away. That’s how I deal with Visa. If I ignore the bills, they will stop asking me to pay back the money. npr.org/2026/01/18/nx-…

@foodandwine sent me a mailer with an offer to subscribe to a real live magazine. I haven’t seen that in ages!

Downloaded @Tesla software v14.2.2.2 today. Lane changes are greatly improved. The navigation data needs an update. Poor lane selection is still an issue. 1/2 mile to the exit on the right and it’s desperately trying to get into the left, slower lane.

This is the new emdash. A dead giveaway of ChatGPT writing. That’s not efficient writing. That’s laziness.
