We’ve fought for these rights before and we’ll do it again. The Supreme Court’s six conservative justices just gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Allowing states like Texas to roll back 60 years of progress and use racial gerrymandering to silence Black and Brown communities. We must work to pass new voting rights protections and reform this Court.

NEWS: I introduced my first bill in Congress.  The SET Act will create a deadline for Governors to complete special elections when there’s a vacancy, so no one goes without representation like TX-18 did for 334 days.  Let’s pass it.

Auditioning for the Supreme Court.

SCOTUS’s Callais decision will have tragic effects, enabling more racist gerrymandering in any state controlled by Republicans too weak to stand up to Trump.  Americans deserve national redistricting reform and SCOTUS reform. Now.

If that’s not enough, what is? The answer under today’s ruling is basically nothing unless your legislators are as reckless with their racism as the Republicans in North Carolina. The standard is designed to be unreachable.
