@jogamedev Been commenting on the videos, but the work you’re doing is great!

I believe the new S&box game engine is going to become a serious competitor for Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot so I'm making a tutorial series explaining how to make a game with Zero experience in the S&box engine.
The videos are already far more popular than I was expecting which is super exciting, so if there's anything that you want me to explain about S&box let me know and I'll add it to my list.

@_trundler Loving how open they are about everything. I think it’s awesome so far!

@FreakazoidA @johnnycap126 1,000% agree. Switched from GoPro super light!

Two new releases from two of the most respected brands, and we're already seeing the top 10 change. The @LogitechG X2 SUPERSTRIKE is on the cusp of entering the Top 5, while the @Razer Viper V4 Pro (which was released less than 7 days ago) is also climbing the ranks really quickly. Will we see the top 5 change soon?

@johnnycap126 I miss the old adobe, the CS6 adobe. Pay upfront adobe, no subscription adobe.
I hate the new adobe, the subscription adobe. The cancellation fee adobe, the ai slop adobe.
English

@spnidelman I was thinking very similarly. Overall I like the direction, but it doesn’t make much sense to just dump a mag with ammo on the ground. They should adopt the single tap reload stow, and the double tap reload mag drop mechanics from the other games that clearly influenced this.
English

since everybody on this planet cares about and values my literally who opinion:
i think the magazine system change in cs2 is a bit amateurish - theres nothing wrong with the old ammo pool system and this switch to magazines seems like they wanted to modernize their gameplay a bit, but didnt want to commit to it fully
this creates a situation where logically the mags should be stowed away for later use, but instead theyre wasted, and it creates this dissonance which makes the player ask "why?"
the proper (imo) way to do it wouldve been to make the player character stash mags for reusal instead of getting rid of them
the other proper way to do it was to not touch the ammo system at all - not every single game needs elements of milsim, but if you start leaning more towards the realism aspect of things, then you better make it make sense and feel good in the process - a half-way solution of "reloading makes you lose your current mag ammo" is not it

@UnityCodeMonkey I appreciate the response! Thank you for the insight, I’m going to have to try to incorporate it with the time blocks like you mention.

Basically self discipline is like a muscle and the more you train it the stronger it gets.
So you start by forcing yourself to work 10 minutes every day whether you feel like it or not, then 20 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour, 2 hours, etc, etc.
That's basically it. It's very simple but of course difficult to do.
English

My best advice is to NOT rely on Motivation, and instead rely on Self-Discipline.
Motivation is something that you have no control over, it comes and goes, it's random. Whereas Self-Discipline is something you CAN control.
If you truly want to make games as a professional (there are no rules if you're just making it for fun) then you need to treat it like a professional task. Meaning you need to do what you NEED to do whether you feel like it or not. There's not magic answer beyond that, it's just how it is.
Good thing is how Self-Discipline is a skill that you can learn!
I used to be terrible, back when I started making a living from my games and I tried to force myself to work it did not go well. I was only able to force myself to work about 2 hours per day and that was it.
But over time I focused on learning that skill and nowadays I can work 8-10 hour days without issues even if the thing I need to do isn't something I particularly feel like doing. If it has to be done then it has to be done.

@UnityCodeMonkey Do you have any tips for staying on track with your projects? I find myself really excited to work on personal projects one day, and the next I feel no motivation.

@bstategames This game makes me extremely angry. Thank you! Happy New Year!

@Prtstnt_Patriot @InsaneActual @nikgeneburn Agreed, really just comes down to how they have it architected. Only the guys over at BSG would know. I’m assuming being on Unity they are leveraging the features like scriptable objects, but they could very well just be using classes that inherit from a base gun class.
English

@cenoxxtv @InsaneActual @nikgeneburn That could be accomplished by simply making the *first* cooldown really fast. If the 2 round burst is 1800 rpm, after the first bullet, the cooldown would be .033 seconds, and then the rest would be back to the 90 milliseconds or so.
English

it's planned but it takes so long to finally make it ingame for some reason. We need more likes i guess

NIKITA ADD THE AN-94 TO TARKOV AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
English

@Prtstnt_Patriot @InsaneActual @nikgeneburn They probably would need to do a slight logic adjustment for that initial hyper burst that the AN-94 is notable for, as they wouldn’t really ever have needed that for any other weapon in the game.
English

@Prtstnt_Patriot @InsaneActual @nikgeneburn This is basically how it’s done for the most part, they most likely use scriptable objects where they set the fire rate in whatever numerical value they prefer, then the logic handles firing at that rate in full auto on the event of input. However,

@InquisitorExia @DevilDogGamer Terminal is available, people have already escaped. You have to progress the main story line to access it.

@DevilDogGamer It's still funny how Tarkov is 1.0 and Terminal is still unavailable...

@hailtothesyn Lost is great, but where are my Brompton Cocktail peeps at?
English

@rivaLxfactor The game is good in its current state. Do I think it could/should be improved, yes. I think communication needs to also be improved in regards to the S1 patch notes not exactly matching what we got in the game. IE. still many issues with incorrect weapon bloom, lighting, etc.

My apologies for being frustrated on the timeline.
I want Battlefield to survive and thrive, but after waiting 8 years to come back to BF I really thought this would of been a well polished and thought out title at release after all we've been through.
It clearly is not.
The amount of things fixed or "figured out" in previous Battlefield's that are problems again or just lacking is brain breaking.
Of course DICE will work on it, but do they have the time in todays market?
That is the main problem as I see it. The market might not give them the time they need and BF might be a game lost to its own shortcomings yet again.
