@RedIrishDub @reptracker @TonymartialSZN9 Problem is that Germany aren't especially blessed up top. These bundesliga numbers realistically wouldn't get him into the England squad for example. Not someone they are likely to lose too much sleep over but also a lad who could win a few caps in the next few years

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐩 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝? 🇮🇪 Liam Rosenior comments last week about Liam Delap and specifically name-dropping Ireland - felt very interesting. Rosenior on Delap: "I think Liam's ready. He's playing at a world-class football club. He's played Champions League football, he's scored goals for Ipswich last season in the Premier League, whether it's England or Ireland, Liam's more than good enough to play international football." It might be nothing… but it also hints that a potential change of international allegiance could be on the cards. Right now, you’d almost start to feel it’s becoming more likely than not that we see Liam Delap in an Ireland shirt in the near future.

@IFBMedia They were both big prospects. Nothing said about david Harrington picking wales or eoin Kenny representing the north because Kenny is alright but way down the ladder in irish prospects and Harrington hadn't a chance really. 100% fuelled it but their quality was the main thing

You know what? I post content daily I’ve posted everyday since January… Some days it’s harder than others but often you’ll find that the content is in your comments! After my “joke” the other day (with some well founded truths to it) as so often is the case I set off dozens and dozens of sensitive souls. The English I kinda expected, the Welsh were relatively chill but the reaction of the Scots surprised Metz A country I’ve always had immense respect for. But I received this comment RE Aidan McGeady describing him as a “Scottish guy” trying to flip my argument against me. And it reminded me of the sectarian abuse that both he and James McCarthy received when they chose to represent Ireland over Scotland. Two Glaswegians. Both Celtic fans. Both with grandparents from Donegal. Both chose Ireland. Both paid a price for it. McGeady made his decision at 14. Not 18. Scotland’s rules blocked him from the schoolboys setup. Ireland, through Packie Bonner, who knew his family from Gweedore, opened a door. He walked through it. Every away ground in Scotland. Booed every time he touched the ball. Hearts. Hibs. Motherwell. Falkirk. “Traitor.“Turncoat.” “Judas.” The question McGeady posed and nobody in the Scottish media would honestly answer. Scott Arfield chose Canada. Brian McLean chose Northern Ireland. Did they get the same abuse? No. So why did McGeady? Why did McCarthy? Because they chose Ireland. Because they played for Celtic. Because they were Irish in a Scotland that still hasn’t reckoned with what anti-Irish racism looks like behind the word “sectarianism.” McCarthy’s grandfather Paddy Coyle from Donegal told him about Celtic and the Irish team. He stayed loyal to the country that had been loyal to him. The day the Rangers support sang the Famine Song at a 17-year-old McCarthy at Hamilton tells you everything. This wasn’t about football. It was never about football. Ray Houghton. Tommy Coyne. Charlie Gallagher, the first Scottish-born player to wear the green jersey in 1967. All made to suffer for their heritage. McGeady won 93 caps. McCarthy won 43. Never forget what they gave up to do it.

@craigyjones17 Wrexham was never hated "universally". For most, it was never even thought about. Why not celebrate a wonderful Irishman's contribution without the made-up shite.

Farewell Jimmy. We may not have had you in your prime, but for a club that became universally hated due to success, you were the perfect fit. Thank you for leading Wrexham to promotion to the Championship. Loved by us. Hated by so many. The ultimate shit house 🫡

@geekus_deekus @TheBlueDodger Ya I like iraolas style. My concern if they sign him is hes not exactly the style of manager they say they are saying they want. Same with poch when they could've gotten Enrique. Everything they said about what they wanted in a coach at the time pointed to Enrique

@TheBlueDodger Would take Iraola over Liam, not that that’s something I’m excited about. Iraola has more Prem experience and has been doing well with Bournemouth before their recent dip. This job is too soon for Liam, he should continue at Strasbourg. Neither are exciting options 😒

I love Stephen Bunting but this is a hard watch. Seems very brand focussed to me here. Talking about how many subscribers on YouTube he’s got. Like what are we doing here

@09_jimdex @Blue_Footy The whole thing about experienced players is that they are usually better able to get results in the tougher games. Losses into draws and draws into wins. This is a classic style of win from a young team but even maresca has spoken about maresca.

Spurs are embarrassing. Never understood the Thomas Frank hype. As Sky Sports pundits said the other week he can’t coach patterns on the ball, this is why I don’t get the hype for Iraola, Glasner etc, they’re great where they are, but how they play doesn’t transfer to the elite clubs.

@TheScore01 Liverpool are first on this and there's no sign of arsenal. Really shows that this isn't conclusive at all of how happy a team is with themselves

@HungarianFooty I agree. Ireland struggled with this too in recent years and its crazy teams win league C because they weren't good enough for league B before and usually still aren't.

@SmallerFishGAA That's a ridiculous broad brush statement. Loads of LOI fans are also GAA fans (I'm one). I've come across plenty of GAA people over the years who have nothing but contempt for soccer. I mean there is an element of hurling fans who constantly belittle football!

This is not surprising - In my experience GAA people universally love soccer. Most really like rugby. There's an large element of Irish soccer fans (mostly the league of Ireland types) that absolutely hate the GAA...but that's driven by jealousy

@kennethwall71 @McDonnellDan We probably will. Currently we're a bit below top 24 based on world rankings and a bit of improvement or having one of Wales or Scotland maintaining their current level and we'll qualify as hosts

Some info coming out re: Euro 2028. If 🇮🇪 qualify directly, all 3 group games at home. Would be Group E. Two Group B games also in Dub. Unclear as yet what happens if 🇮🇪 get back door route. Win that group (!) R16 also in Dublin. 2nd = Tottenham Best 3rd: Newcastle/Manchester

@FightHypocrisy1 Unionism has very clearly been whittled away. Carson knew Ireland was conned by partition and the likes of Craig and Paisley with their "never give an inch" approach has backfired into the north being far more even now. Unionists have eroded their dominance
