@BlueEarthMngmnt @history99917180 One of the worst for me, had to tell a 19 & 16 year old their father had been killed on his motorbike…mother had passed away some years previously. Still haunts me at times…along with a few other incidents!

@history99917180 Yeah you are right on that. This or telling loved ones someone isn't coming home. Horrendous thing to have to do.

Yep. Can confirm. But it’s ok, people say ‘you’re trained for it’. Well, I never went on a training course to prepare you for dealing with a human body struck by a lorry at 50mph. We literally put what was left of the bloke into a bin liner!
Joe Whelan@sergeantdixie

@cynicalbobby My cousin was a Traffic Sgt who in his 12 years in that role went to a fatal or potential fatal roughly every 10 days. No debriefs, no offer of welfare, no support network. Nothing. Just expected to come in day after day & get on with it. I’ve no idea how he coped. Many didn’t.

Sat in a roadside cafe with a mate. A job driving school car is here too. One of the students is clearly not doing too well. Instructor pointing out a few finer points of the system. Appears the student is not applying said system. We’ve all been there fella. It gets easier.

@history99917180 @timdavies_uk I remember clearly being told on my driving courses, to treat a red light as a give way and only proceed through in first gear, when safe to do so!

@timdavies_uk I’ll catch the flack but I think it’s a fair outcome. 43mph through a red light is way too fast. A red light is treated as a stop/Give Way. He didn’t plead to a dangerous drive, but was found guilty after a trial. The law is clear. You have to obey it. The sentence is very fair.

What's people's opinion on this, what if this officer was rushing to help your child - genuine question? It seems the IOPC have gone after this guy and his force have failed to fight for him. 'A police officer who crashed and killed a woman while responding to an emergency call to help a choking baby has been jailed for two years and three months.' bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@Was_Sgt__S I think what she’s talking about is councils such as South Cambridge District Council who are allowing staff to work 4 x 8 hours working weeks but still be paid for working 5 x 8 hour weeks. scambs.gov.uk/news/council-v…

Oh deary me. That's the Cops, Ambulance, NHS etc broken even more by KB... I often did 4 day weeks on shifts. 10 hour days. Which if my maffs is right comes to 40. Same as a 5 day week on 8 hr days. The plus for the Cops meant I was available more often for those extra duties
Kemi Badenoch@KemiBadenoch

A council job with a four-day working week for five days’ pay. Nice if you can get it. Not so nice when taxpayers are paying the bill. We deserve full-time services for full-time pay. The @Conservatives will ban this ridiculous policy and get Britain working again.

@george28265 @RDH1156 @ladyC1900 Taking a lump sum would reduce the pension further. If a public sector employee was to get a pension higher than their wage, they would need to work 81 years to get 81/80th, which technically is impossible as it couldn’t go over 80/80ths.

@george28265 @RDH1156 @ladyC1900 Absolute shite, public sector are on defined benefits pensions, they work on a fraction system - commonly 80ths, so each year paying in would get you 1/80th ending at 40/80th after 40 years…that would give you a pension of half your wages before lump sum was taken.

Can anyone give me a valid reason why public sector workers get a 29% state funded pension & workers in the private sector get an avg of 3-6% and fund the public sector on top. Workers are workers & taxpayers . So what makes one sector more worthy ?

@LoftusSteve I have the kind of pension you are in about. I don’t think losing it completely is fair - I’ve paid the same through tax/NI as anyone else for it. However, I would accept a ‘payoff’ to recoup some of that cost i.e £75k tax free lump sum at 60 or £100k tax free at 67?

A super easy place to start with pension reform. If you get a public sector pension above £20,000 per annum you lose your state pension. This is easy for the Gov to track and should be phased in gradually so it's £20k for 2040.

@mjwxm19 @fidtim @racecourserambl There seemed to be an issue with confirmation. I selected mine, went through the bank verification and then got an error message, almost bought 2 more as wasn’t sure I’d got the first two, but after about 5 minutes got an email confirmation that I’d got them!

@Fergie_CJ @AngusCapitan @sumbitspicy I can access mine at 51, and I have colleagues who have been able to access theirs at 48….there are multiple types of pensions, which have multiple different rules. Not as simple as what you’re trying to say!!

If this happens, my age group will have been robbed of 15 years of pension rights. That's about £185,000 in state pension, but it also applies to your private and work pensions, which go back in line with the state ones. It's the biggest theft from poorest to richest ever.
Alison Moyet@AlisonMoyet

I see the proposal that retirent age should be raised to 75. My question is - Where are these jobs going to come from? Given that the young and mid-lifers alike are struggling to find work.

@Fergie_CJ @sumbitspicy How come you can start accessing your private pension at 55, but pension age is 66? You’re trying to give a one size fits all for different types of pensions, which all have different rules - private v employer’s pensions - which have multiple types, with varying different rules

@sumbitspicy Yes, it does. You can't access your private pension until 10 years before the state pension age, and will be penalised for taking it in those ten years before the state pension age.

@Jayfuz I would put either Brunt or Vyner (give him a chance in his natural position) into CB and push Doyle forward into the LWB position - he’s been pushing himself further and further forward the last few weeks in any case!

I would go with this, just to freshen things up a little. Thomason back in CM to give us more options where we're down. DKD/Kabore had some good moments against Hull, Bailey in for Smith just to give him a rest, Brunt/Vyner I'd consider at the back too

James - Fractured Toe Sheaf - Medial ligament Dobson - suspended Moore - tendon split LCacace - Hamstring gone Everyone knackered Vyner at CM isn't it. I think for the good of the centre, you have to move Thomason back there and put Longman LWB. Faces in familiar places

@MitchHalley @capaled Rather than denigrating them for having strong commercial revenues, teams need to look at their business model and see how it can be replicated. Yes, a part is the names at the top, but the largest part is really savvy commercial decisions and plans…any club can replicate that

@MitchHalley @capaled Now you’re talking a different argument - not the highest wage bill, but individually paid too much for a newly promoted team. Fact is wrexham revenues in L2 were higher than a lot of Championship teams, 2 years on, they’ll be vastly more - they have the money, why not spend it?

@Wrexham_AFC Must have been a bit of pressure for him - first start (especially as only played for 1 club), big game & playing out of position. Couple of kicks going past their target, but all in all, with it all considered, was a good shift for him! Looking forward to seeing more from him
