Every time campaign season kicks into high gear, the same thought crosses my mind: Why don’t good people want to run for office? Oh, I wonder. Maybe it’s the mudslinging, the toxicity, the slander, the senseless attacks, or the constant slew of self-righteous idiots dunking on candidates from their OWN PARTY. Grow up and get the log out of your own eye first. And candidates: How about you consider running on your MERITS? If you don’t have any to run on, go away.

There are two types of libertarians:
1) The kind that want to treat business meetings with the professional demeanor it deserves.
2) The type that treat business conventions as virtue signaling opportunities and a way to show off their autism or degeneracy.
Maybe it IS over for the LP. Nobody wants to actually behave like professional and mature adults or facilitate a culture of excellence.

According to Benjamin Tucker in Liberty, Vol. II No. 15, in the article “Proudhon Viewed by a Ph.D.,” Tucker accused Richard T. Ely of misrepresenting Pierre-Joseph Proudhon by portraying him as “a communist, but not a communitarian.” Tucker argued this was an evasive attempt to preserve the false impression that Proudhon supported communism.
Tucker replied that “the central idea of communism is possession or use or administration in common,” and stressed that “Proudhon believed in neither.” He rejected both compulsory and voluntary communism, as well as systems of “community” involving collective control over individuals. Instead, Tucker described Proudhon as defending individualism, possession, and free association “on the federative principle of contract, and in nothing else.”
