Today I went to a crawfish festival in Texas.
It was fundraiser for victims of sex trafficking. Its a very red district, in fact I attended a massive Trump boat parade there a few years ago.
I did not see ONE Trump shirt or hat in the entire crowd.

I’m sitting there with a friend, just talking about random stuff after class, and somehow the topic shifts to abortion laws.
They look at me and ask, “So are you pro-life or pro-choice?”
I don’t really need to think about it. I just say, “Pro-choice.”
They ask why, so I explain it how I see it.
To me, everyone should have the right to decide what happens to their own body and their own life. That’s not something I think other people should be able to take away or control.
And I also feel like a lot of people don’t really think about what happens when abortion is illegal. It doesn’t just stop abortions, it just makes them harder to access, even in serious situations like rape or when the pregnancy is dangerous. So people who are already dealing with something really heavy end up with even fewer options.
That’s why I stand by it. Because without access, there isn’t really a choice at all.

Spoke with a woman last night who recently had a miscarriage in Georgia. She was terrified of not being able to get the treatment she needed. Said her female doctor worded her treatment plan very carefully and she could tell everyone was on edge in the process.
Personally, I think a woman would have to be crazy to have a pregnancy in a state like Georgia where our legislature’s ridiculous heartbeat bill is putting women’s lives in danger and making pregnancy high risk even for people who want kids.

I dislike that Catholic schools have a “service hour requirement” to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. I’m open to opposing arguments, but I’ve always thought that it risks leaving the kids with the impression that “I worked for this, therefore I’m owed and deserve this.”

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.
