The oldest meat & fish markets in London, which date back 850 years, face closure from 2028. Smithfield meat market & Billingsgate fish market are to close after the City of London Corporation recently voted to withdraw support. A huge blow to independent fresh food suppliers and British food supply chain heritage.

Just down the road from me is a British institution, Denby Pottery. It has been in business since 1809 and is in financial difficulties. If everyone can get in their cars this weekend and visit. Plenty of parking. Their products are the best quality and will last a long time.

So, as a doctor I can’t accept a plastic pen from a pharmaceutical company because it might influence my prescribing decisions, but MPs can accept thousands in cash from those who want to privatise the NHS and it won’t affect their decision-making??? CTFO
