@Dameshek Don't subscribe to the bottom out theory to get a good young QB - fails as often as it works. Keeping a winning culture is more important, just have to keep taking shots in the late first round.

Steelers are telling yinz they're not competing for the SB. A shame given they've got AFCN's best roster (which tbf is easier to achieve when you treat the most important position as an afterthought. Let's call it the Rodman/Ben Wallace effect: It's easier to be great when you specialize).

@ScottKacsmar Prospect wise Luck is still the most impressive I've seen. If you have knowledge of their ability in the NFL then hard to see past Peyton/Rodgers/Luck. Of course all GMs would say they'd take Brady in a hypothetical, but if it actually happened he's picked in the 20s.

I tried doing NFC and gave up around 2010. Can't do it. It changed so often on who the best guys were. NFC East especially changed a lot with McNabb, Romo, Eli all taking turns to shine.
Scott Kacsmar@ScottKacsmar

It's quite possible none of Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, or Herbert win a division title in 2025. Every year since realignment at least one of the consensus best AFC QBs won their division. 02 - Gannon 03-07 - Manning, Brady 08 - Ben, Rivers 09-17 - Brady 18-24 - Mahomes

They did the onside kick because they were still trailing 39-37 under 2:00. WTF are we even doing here? Just watch the games on.
Andy@MielkeRage

@ScottKacsmar Dallas winning because they missed the 2pt and got the onside kick proves the theory though. They did the onside kick because they needed to because they knew they had to get another possession Which is the entire point of doing it early, so you have time to do what you need to

Name a meaningful stat. Chances are somebody you don't like will rank high. That doesn't mean you discard the whole thing when it correlates with winning.

@ScottKacsmar Because his defense held the opposing team to 10 points. Bit less than 51.

People will bash Garoppolo for not throwing the 49-yd TD in the SB he almost never has thrown in career. But it's crickets when Aaron Rodgers choked like this on 1st play of OT when he could win his 1st PO game.

@ScottKacsmar Brady played in like 14 or 15 Championship games and has had maybe 1 game better than Rodgers' best in the same round. Remove Peyton's corpse Superbowl and his playoff record is below .500, probably still better than Rodgers in the playoffs but it's pretty close.

Rodgers is an overrated playoff performer. Warner and Brees were better too. How do you play 5 NFC-CG and your greatest performance is coming up small in the red zone against the 2020 Bucs?

@ScottKacsmar Biggest discrepancy for Rodgers fans is even in his peak 7 seasons (2009-2014, 2020, 2021) he lags too far behind Manning/Mahomes in GWDs. Rodgers in his peak 7 - 12 GWDs Manning 2003-2009 - 29 GWDs Mahomes 2018-2024 - 30 GWDs

Outproduced in what? You could just compare their 17-game averages for Rodgers' prime vs. time where Manning's body was breaking down 2009-14 Rodgers: 64-23, 4731 yards/38 TD, 50.6% success rate, 1-0 in SB Peyton: 62-18, 5113 yards/42 TD, 53.9% success rate, 0-2 in SB That's not favorable to Rodgers. And Manning was at his absolute best in 2003-09 anyway. Manning was also way better at using TEs, backs, and slot receivers. Rodgers had a lot of excellent WRs too. DEF got more turnovers as well.
Someguy222111@Someguy2221111

@ScottKacsmar @DrMidnight95 @WayofDade Here's the "argument": Rodgers outproduced Manning typically, without as much offensive support. But maybe you're too fucking dense to fathom that, giant follower account? There were at most a few seasons most likely that Rodgers' offensive support was anywhere near as good

Good job reshaping his career in TB. Also one of the lowest average ranks in QBR and had 16 INTs + 13 fumbles last season (no player had more of either). Barely wins the NFC South both years.

This is what I mean when people try to force the Manning-Brady dynamic on today's QBs. Allen's had better defenses than Mahomes. So has Lamar obviously. It's just when they meet head to head in the POs, Mahomes has gotten the best of them every time.

@ScottKacsmar He’s been good against the Bills but outside of those games he’s absolutely been carried in the playoffs. Most notably in 2023 and a lesser extent last year. He is very fortunate he’s had the defense he’s had

Rodgers started his career 0-26 when trailing by multiple scores in 2H. It took a phantom facemask penalty and Hail Mary in Detroit to end the streak. It took Mahomes 1 opportunity in his 5th start to lead a 10-point 4QC in Denver (2018).

The reward for getting the 3 seed was getting to face Anthony Edwards. The reward for getting the 7 seed was getting to face Jalen Green. Steph's luck is only rivaled by Tom Brady.

Never seen a QB play favorites like Rodgers has done this year on the Jets. He decides who he's throwing to before the ball is snapped, and it's usually going to his buddy Davante. So many easy first down dump-offs to Breece Hall left on the field because of this guy's ego.

@ScottKacsmar Maybe you are right. I have Manning ahead all-time too fwiw. I just think Rodgers on his best day is probably the best QB I've seen. I don't see many others making that throw to Cook against the Cowboys for instance.

It's happened a handful of times in a 19-year career. It's also a situation-dependent play where he basically has no other choice. And the 2015 Lions and 2015 Cardinals played 2 of the worst Hail Mary defenses we've ever seen to let him get away with it.
Evan@CHnave11

Peyton was better than Rodgers in 2008 Peyton was better than Rodgers in 2009 Rodgers was better than Peyton in 2010 Peyton missed the 2011 season Peyton was better than Rodgers in 2012 Peyton was better than Rodgers in 2013 Peyton was better than Rodgers in 2014 until his quad injury Rodgers fell off in 2015 while Peyton was on his last legs What Rodgers has done since 2016 is certainly not better than what Manning did in 1998-2007. I don't know where this push for Rodgers over Manning is coming from.
Kenny🌴🍌🇵🇭🇬🇺@chessmyantidrug

@JakeLake720 @ScottKacsmar People talk about Rodgers like he's the best quarterback ever when he was only the best during his era after Peyton was cooked and before Mahome took the field in 2018.
